    Macbook 12 in a1534 (2016)no power - need help

It came in dead, no nothing... it gets warm if i plug in usb c charger...
I have an usb c meter which indicates like this when i power the laptop trough it:
5v 0.1 amps for a split of second
    Then 14.3v and 0.35amps for 5 seconds
Then 14.3v and 0.55 amps and it remains like this.
I didn't take it apart yet... i don't know motherboard number

    Any suggestion?
    Thanks!!!

Re: Macbook 12 in a1534 (2016)no power - need help

Well, A1534 always have dead CPU…
Typical issue is that it "turns on" (touchad "clicks" with forcetouch) CPU warms up, but there's nothing on the screen, no activity at all. Another issue is artifacts on the screen, random crash/reboot, SSD not recognized…

For data recovery only, you can try giving some heat to the CPU (200°C, 1min30s or something like that), it may make it work again for a short while so that you can save data.

Thanks again piernov for the info!
I will take apart the laptop just to check cpuvcore short to ground.
Then i'll inform customer and see what's his choice.

What is correct voltage and aperage drawn by a good working board?
Should it be 20v or 14.7v on the usbc meter?

Ps: i attached some pictures of the motherboard i pulled out... looks like liquid damage on the back all the way arround the edges...

It kinda does look like water damage. Is there no corrosion on the board?
USB-C Should jump from 5v to around 20v.

Check U4700. This chip is a common failure point of this macbook.

EDIT: Are you sure that it doesn't turn on? There is no chime or power led on these machines. Maybe the backlight is dead. Shine a flashlight on the screen and take a look. Also does it react to caps lock? Not sure but I think these still have the little green led inside the key.

Re: Macbook 12 in a1534 (2016)no power - need help

A1534 will work on 14.5V from the USB-C charger.
                U4700 is on the 2015 model (820-00045), not the 2016 model (820-00244).
From the "Then 14.3v and 0.55 amps and it remains like this." statement, this does turn on and even CPU VCore is present. But most likely not POSTing.

Re: Macbook 12 in a1534 (2016)no power - need help

Well after cleaning the board with alcohol the machine works.
It takes 14.7v and reaches 0.8-0.9amps
But i ran into different problems...
It shows 0% battery after 5seconds you plug in the charger...also it plays iphone charger detection sound.
And it doesn’t see internal hard drive (question mark folder)
As far as i saw on google no ssd means dead cpu???

                  Thanks again everyone!!!

                  EDIT:
Now The green led on pcb is on when i plug in charger.
                  Board is 820-00045a

Do you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner? Maybe there is some nasty stuff under a chip.
Since you don't only have problems with the SSD there might be something else.

I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
                        • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                          • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
                        • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                          • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                        by PantherDave
                        Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                        Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...
