820-2610 macbook 17” need some help...

This laptop came in with dim green light, and dead.
I replaced lm397 responable for adapter sense, now i have green light.
If i short smc_onoff_l pads, i think the board tries to enter s0 state, i am not sure... but no fan spin
I measured voltages and i am missing cpuvcore (0.29v)
The chipset becomes hot in a few seconds...
I measured cpuvcore to gnd and i have 5.04ohms..
I don’t know if it’s ok or not... i only had a 15” c2d board to measure cpuvcore to gnd and it’s like 30ohms.
I replaced u7100 (from donor -unknown condition)
I found 1 missing cap on cpu isense line and r1004 was missing also...reinstated them
Stil nothing no fan spin no post no usb nothing
    Thanks!

Still a good idea to do it if it wasn't already done.

Anyway, go down the list of power rails and measure voltages to see which rails come up and which don't when triggering power button. (may be easier to solder a wire on SMC_ONOFF_L and touch it to ground to trigger power button)

I'll replace it just in case of further failure.
Will check all the power rails tonight and see which one is missing...
          Thanks again!

            Problem solved!
It was a damn resistor which enables mcpvcores0 which was desoldered on one tab... probably someone who was there before me dropped something on the board in that area...
Anyway it was missing mcpvcore which got my attention and this is how i saw the resistor.
Board boots, chimes, boots from usb dongle.
It has some other issues but i will fix them next.(no wifi no keybd)

Again piernov a big thank you!!!

Re: 820-2610 macbook 17” need some help...

I can't find anything wrong with wifi 5v line or any other fault on data lines of that connector.
I tried 3 different wifi boards, still no signs of wifi...
I do not have the hdd cable, and i am looking to see wifi options in boot menu holding down the option key during startup...
Should it be visible as for a1278 211-2012 models?
Any ideea where to look now?
              Thanks again!

I may be wrong but I don't think this model can boot over WiFi so I guess it's normal that it doesn't appear on boot menu.

Boot on an external drive with macOS on it.

                    Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
                    by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
                    • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                      • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
                    • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                      • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
                    • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)

                    A2941 Macbook air 15” - 5V 0a
                    by obelix24
I’m working on one macbook air 15” m2 that was water damaged.

keyboard, lcd, microphone connectors were damaged so i’ve replaced all of them and without screen connected macbook worked fine. Keyboard &trackpad and also lid sensor was working fine.

i’ve put macbook in shelf and order new screen so i can fully repair it.

Now i got the screen and macbook stays at 5v 0a.

i’ve tried if it’s not in DFU with another macbook but it’s not detected at all.

i don’t have schematics so i don’t know where to start can someone help me?...

Sorry,I'm using my phone right now and couldn't find any search bar to search on the topic of macbooks.
Few weeks back(mid may),I had bought a MacBook pro m1 A2338. It belonged to my friend's younger brother who was a graphic designer,he gave me this MacBook without any icloud account linked to it and I had so much work during that times that I only used it for storage while traveling for shoots (I'm a photographer). So long story short, his brother got involved in a bad accident and was in coma and then fairly recently they pulled out his life support. I mistakenly did an erase Mac and...
