by SimonSempaiHi everyone!
I got this laptop from a friend who claims after he accidentally poured water on the laptop, board seems that it has survived it. There are signs of someone opening it and even taking out the board but screws where at the correct places. Laptop comes on, no issues, boots into windows and everything checks out as far as voltages go but somehow the thing doesn't wanna stay on. I have checked Electronics repair school's video about this (he had the same legion 5 with the same issue) and noticed in the comments that there could be issues with US1. Thinking the IC may be faulty...09-30-2025, 03:42 AM -
Hello.
Yesterday my mother encountered a problem with her laptop, which led to it not turning on and expressing the behaviour mentioned in the title (you press the power button and then it turns off after a minute)
Here is what happened:
At one point i was fixing a setting on the laptop to make the laptop properly recognize the NVMe drive i put in months ago. All worked until all of a sudden the computer blue screened. The screen said it would reboot, but it never did. So she held down the power button, powering it off. Pressing it again, the screen briefly turned...10-08-2025, 07:33 AM -
by doejohn11Hello guys. I have a legion 5 17ach6h with Ryzen 7 5600h and RTX3060.
It was working perfectly fine but the cpu was overheating so i decided to replace thermal paste. I bought one from local hardware store and replcaed. it looked fine then the fan started to spin at the full speed after about 1 minute and then immediately shut off after 10 seconds. Then I though if i have done something wrong, so i cleaned up everything with IPA and put new thermal paste. but the issue was still there. After that, I came across this article where he had similar issue and he was able to solve it by replacing... -
by BabbarMy fathers belt sander from the 80s which i very much would like to continue using has an issue with the speed control. The machine works fine on maximum speed but will not turn or give any sign of life when on any other setting. The speed control is a dial going from 1-6 although implemented as a potentiometer without distinct steps. I took the machine apart and measured each component individually, all components and measurements have been captioned in the attached pictures. The Triac did not get identified correctly using my cheapo component tester, i don't know if this is user error, if the...

by brav1ezHello everyone,
I have an ASUS TUF Gaming FX505GD that's powering on, showing the ASUS logo for about 2 seconds with keyboard backlight, then immediately shuts off. After it shuts down, the power button does nothing until I unplug the laptop completely. No fans spin afterward either.
I’ve tried:
- CMOS reset
- Removing the SSD/HDD
- Reseating RAM (removing each stick individually stops boot completely)
- Cleaning up recently applied thermal paste around CPU/GPU and nearby VRM components (issue persists)
