Lenovo 305-15IBD - completely dead - no signs of life

    Hi,

    I have a Lenovo 305-15IBD. It's dead.
No power, No lights, no reaction to power button.

I have taken a look inside and tested the DC jack. I have 20.76V on 2 pins on JDCIN1 socket on the motherboard.

I also have exactly the same laptop but fully working. I did some measurements and the working motherboard have 3.3V and 5V on PU202 (when charger connected, before power button pressed). Dead motherboard doesn't have 3.3V and 5V on PU202.

Could you please give me some advice on how to test/diagnose the motherboard further. I'm not sure what to do next as I'm a beginner. I would like to learn. Thank you

Check the voltages on the mosfets near the DC jack.

      Try this Schematic
      Test Pl101 Pl102 for +20V
      ADP_ID 3.3V ,AC Adepeter 90W?
      RTC Battery 3.3V
      PQ301 fet pin 5.6.7.8 +20V pin4 8.8V pin 1.2.3 +20V
Voltage on PQ302 must be the same measurements

        PL101 and PL102 - 20.75V
        RTC Battery - 3.32V
        PQ301 - pin 1.2.3.5.6.7.8 - 20.75V, pin 4 - 8.79V
        PQ302 - pin 1.2.3.5.6.7.8 - 20.75V, pin 4 - 8.79V
        PQ302 - pin 1.2.3 - 20.75V, pin 4 - 20.26V, pin 5.6.7.8 - 20.69V
ADP_ID 3.3V ,AC Adepeter 90W? - I'm not sure how to check this. AC Adapter is 65W

              test Voltage on PU301 pin 1 2 5 6 16 20 ?

desolder jumper PJ401 and test both sides of the JUMPER with the multimetre on Diode mode 1-2 jumper) ?
PU401 pin 5 test with the multimetre on Diode ?
              PU401 Voltage on pin 7 8 2 ?
              PU402 Voltgae on 1 5 8 ?
desolder jumper PJ402 and test both sides of the JUMPER with the multimetre on Diode mode 1-2 jumper) ?

                Lenovo Thinkpad T14s completely dead.

                Hello.
I received a T14s Gen1 ( NM-C891 motherboard ) that is completely dead, no indication of life at all.
I tried hard reset without RTC battery and short both pins of it for 1 minute but no luck.
Since it's type C connector i have no idea what to measure or where to inject voltage, so any advice are welcomed
                Thank you in advance!

For Badcaps Readers, Please note that I am hopefully going to present this same message to Lenovo to see if they have any insight to the matter as well and figured to share the entirety here for clarification. The System is out of warranty as it is but does have the option to have it extended.

                Lenovo T490s completely dead
                by Andreasbest
                Hello!
I received a fantastic T490s that is completely dead, after i removed the back cover i noticed a totally fried cap (attachement) pic, i remove it and cleaned the pcb, seems undamaged, although the nearby caps are shorted, PU1001 looks physically undamaged.
                Any advice please?
                Thank you in advance!

Hi, I disassemble my laptop to replace the speakers, to access them, you have to remove everything including the heat sink and fan, unscrew the motherboard, lift it up a bit to access the speaker wire.
that was not the first time I dissasemble it, i did replace the same speaker a few year ago and I repaste it last year, so I had nothing to worry about. but when I put everything back together, its completely dead.

After a bit of investigating, i found one pin of the status led ribbon cable that was unglued from the cable and bend touching another pin, I bend it back at his place...

Hi everyone, I replaced this motherboard because it was important to get it working, but it's been with me for a very long time. Now I finally have time to figure out what the problem is,
                I've never encountered something like this before;

                No charging light, full dead
