    Used ITE chip replacement

i have this asus board with dead IT8995e chip and i have to replace it...Before, i always ordered and used new chips but this time i have one other motherboard with dead gpu so i was thinking to use it8995e from that board....
I understand that when using a new IT8995e chip on asus board it will reprogram automatically with first power on...but what about used chip?
Basically, the question is can i use working old ITE chip for replacement on other asus board?
    Thank you!

If you have got no ITE programmer, do not do that. Instead, you may be able to convert the failed-GPU mainboard to UMA.

      Re: Used ITE chip replacement

yes i have ITE programmer but it is much more easier to just install new ITE chip on asus laptop boards.
The main problem is that sellers on ebay states it is new ite chip... but when it arrives in couple of weeks it is often used (with solder on the pads for example, obviously removed from some motherboard) so i have to order a new one ... and lost couple of weeks more.

          Asus laptop EC/SIO chip replacement
          by ebugs
Asus Vivobook 15 (board X513ea R2.0) gone dead when user plugged an iPhone cable into the USB-C port during boot. Now there's no LED light, no power at all. I checked all MOSFETs and capacitors, no shorts found. The board only has 3.3V and 5V present, no other voltages.

I injected 3.3V into the EC chip power rail (ITE IT5125VG 128), and it draws 80mA, while the 3.3V LDO chip RT8249C has a max output of 100mA. I checked the boardview and found there are only two chips on this 3.3V rail, EC and Realtek audio chip. So I think EC could be the problem.

          I found the EC chip...

Asus Chromebox CN62 - wrong chip put on BIOS reader
          by BMCappelletti
          Long story short:
          - dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
          - gave the computer to his son a couple years later
          - son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
          - too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)

He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8...

Asus ROG Ally - Super IO Chip replacement
          by ongobongo
          Hello everyone,
anyone here who has experience with replacing the super IO chip of an ROG ally?
I have one on my bench which has a burnt super io (ITE 5125VG-192). On some devices the super-io downloads it's firmware from BIOS if it's empty. As i don't have a programmer for this chips i hope someone here has already changed the chip and can give me a hint if it's working with an empty chip if it needs external programming.
          Thanks
          Ongo

Problem Flashing Macronix MX25L6445E BIOS Chip with CH341A and EZP2019+ on ASUS X455LD
          by pengamat_hebat
          Hello everyone,

I'm trying to flash the BIOS chip Macronix MX25L6445E from my ASUS X455LD laptop using both a CH341A and an EZP2019+ programmer, but I keep encountering issues.

Reading the chip works perfectly, and I can extract the BIOS dump without any problems.

However, erasing and writing fail every time, regardless of the software I use. (Neo, asprog, ch341, etc)

I also tried applying 3.3V to pin 3, but it still didn't work.

I attempted to unprotect the chip, but when I read it back, the registers remained unchanged.

Asus X571GT repair chip replace and tips wanted
          by Jeroentje
          Hi

I try to repair a asus Asus X571GT (DA0XKTMB8C0) no power no lights.
I saw a burned (small hole in it) chip (JW10F) proberly a TPS22976DPUR, I removed it, now with power connected the laptop turns on and direct off again, power led and fn will light up.
          I found on a donor lenovo board a G2898KD1U (wa9y), looks the same ..
Result is still the same, turns on and direct off again, first attempt is with backlight on all other direct attempts are only the power and fn led.

Could it be the chip is to diffrent to make the laptop work again ?
