Lenovo G50-30. not turn off while on charger!!!!

    dear friends
I have a Lenovo G5-30 mother board which is not showing anything on screen when I turn it on. only power on lid no overheating at any chips. and when pressing the power botton for very long the lid will shut for a millisecond and light up again (so not shutting off)… but when I use a battery the it powers on by pressing the power (no display too) and if I press the power botton for a while the lids will turn off.

any clue what might cause the issue.

    3.3v and 5.0v are present.

    thanks

remove the battery and check which voltage rails are present after pressing the power button when using the charger. I mean mention all the present voltage rails.

thanks for the reply when I use the charger. the laptop powers on without pressing the power botton. and give a back screen only. and if I tried to to power it off by holding the power botton for long, it it keeps running.
however, when the laptop is only on battery. it doesn't turn on by itself. I need to press the power botton. so the when pressing the power botton, it starts but also giving only black screen.

the same situation happen when even I use a external monitor.

        thanks

I had similar problem in various laptops. In some of these cases, the cause was faulty PCH. I hope something else is faulty in your laptop.

I did reflash bios. no change.
actually I removed bios chip from the board and connected the board to power supply without the bios chip, same result. so I suspected the EC chip.

therefore I programmed the EC chip. but same result.

try to short the JCMOS1 and JME1 pads then try again, make sure RTC battery is good.

actually I removed the rtc battery to avoid its tricky faults. but I will do the jumper and come back with the result...

I tried that nothing new same issue.
the final step I taken before giving up was to change the EC chip (IT8586E).
I could read and write its original EC chip. I already programmed it two times. but it did not solve the issue.

I had a new chip. and I just programmed it and replaced the original one. surprisingly, the board is fully working. believe or not it was the EC chip that was causing the issue.

one thing I noticed about the old chip that it was hard to be identified by the programmer (I have RT809H). and I used to program it offline via adapter. so I was assuming that some of its pins were not soldered well. because after couple of soldering check the chip were read/write able and was identified by the programmer. however, I believe now that the identifying issue were related to the chip itself. cuz I had no need to double check the new chip after I soldered it and it was recognised very fast.

So according to this experience I would suggest to change the IO chip if you face similar symptoms. SPECIALLY, programmer identifying issues.

I DO APPERICIATE ALL WHO REPLIED ME AND HELPED ME TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.. THANKS A LOT.
I am glad the problem is solved.

Nice find, thanks for the information. I wouldn't have thought of EC in this case.

                          Thanks,
Yes exactly, I wasn't expecting it to be the EC too, because its old EC was readable and programmable 100%.

Hello, i have some issues with my laptop Lenovo Y700-17ISK (motherboard BY511 NM-A541), it started when i turn on the laptop, but the lcd wont turn on, i then connected it via hdmi to tv and screen was ok. So i thought maybe lcd stripe is faulty, i removed the bottom cover, disconnected main battery, reset the cmos by disconnecting battery for 1 min, then slighty move the lcd stripe. Conncted power supply and tuned on my laptop, the lcd turn on, it started to load os, then it turn off, after a second it turn on, then after like 3 seconds turn off again, and so on. Removed power supply, waited...

Lenovo G565 Laptop onboard LCD Display does not turn on.
                            Only works with external Monitor.
I am trying to verify that the LCD signals from the motherboard are ok.
The LCD was working, but over time happened to not turn on more frequently.
                            Now dead.
Possibly the cable from MB to LCD is broken somewhere.

I just wonder how it is detected if external or internal monitor shall be activated ?

I found the following schematic on the net:

ASUS X54H laptop thinks it's always charging even with charger unplugged
                            by flat-earther
The charging indicator light on my ASUS X54H laptop is always on even when the charger is disconnected.

Windows also shows ''Plugged in'' when charger is not connected.

This problem started year ago gradually, when unplugging the charger the charging light took several seconds to disappear, then minutes, and now almost always on even when unplugged for an entire day.
Strangely, before sometimes immediately when plugging in the charger the charging light went away, and later came back with it connected.
If I let battery run out and say it has 3% Windows will...

I have Latitude 5420 that it's working fine on battery but when it's plugged on USB C charger it wont turn on.
Battery is charging fine. Also, if I connect the charger while laptop is on, everything is fine, it will charge.
The same thing if I connect to other USB C port.
                            Charger is OEM
