The diodes in your improvised device appear to not be schottky diodes, which means they will have a much higher forward voltage drop. The output voltage of the charge pump will therefore be a little less than the designers intended. But as long as it can output enough voltage to fully turn on those transistors to which it is connected, it should be fine for testing (so maybe 10V or more?). You don't want them to be partially turned on, and then overheat.

Thank you so much! I am currently trying to see if I can increase the TDP of my laptop since it has very heavy stuttering when CPU and GPU are at max freq. and I'm suspecting that it's a power draw issue since it stops happening after I downclock the CPU. Will see how I can go about this or if I can even do it but would be a very interesting project.
