Question about finding short using dc power supply

Can you tell me if am doing it right.

The voltage is 5v 2amp output from specs.

I have a tab that has green light on but don't turn on due to battery not charging so i setted on dc power supply to 5v max 2amps and connected the gnd to ground and red to + of the battery on the pcb board(battery disconnected) now when i turn the dc power supply on i can se voltage drop and current increase and i feel parts heating up.

The part that is heating up is that the main issue to whole problem if i changed that will it fix it.

Am still learning everybody has without learning we wont know right thanks.

yes, you are on the right track. Whether replacing the hot pars will solve it or not-that you can verify once you replace the parts. There can be multiple parts which might have failed.

How is "Question about finding short using dc power supply" different from "Use dc power supply to find short heated meathod?" ?

It's the same tablet also too I'm guessing. Why not show the area where the ic was removed to help identify it.

for ordering parts always try and order what the part number is on the old ic etc, you cant use any ic just because it fits, if your not sure post the part details with a picture then usually we can then help you source a new part.

I have de-solder station was wondering what is the best way to take this off without damaging components as it is soldered all sides.

what part is it your trying too remove? the heat shield or one of the ports etc

I tool the shield of i noticed the port is defect and may need a replacement can you help find this part

ebay does not sell all items especially parts like this hence me saying try aliexpress lately parts are taking just over two weeks to arrive from them.

parts cant be found which really sucks only the ic and port would have cost less
