    Lenovo W541

Working on a Lenovo W541 motherboard LKM-1 WS MB 12291-2 ... The issue was a water spill/liquid damage to the board. The damage was limited to the bios region. Originally there was no power to the board, there was damage to pin 7 & 8 on the bios chip in the photo, the pins had corrosion as well. Removed the bios and was actually able to make a copy of the bios (not sure if its a good copy).. I than flashed a new bios chip and cleaned the area that was affected, replaced the new bios chip and now I have power to the board. The only issue is now it turns on the fan spins then slows down and spins again, over and over this happens... The power button board lights up and stays on, however
every time the fan restarts the light dims and like its resetting.. Also the power button plays no part in starting or stopping the laptop, once powered the laptop starts automatically, as if there's a short. My question, where would a short on pin 7 & 8 come in at?

Voltages on the bios chip are as follows when powered on

pin 1 = 3 vdc than goes to zero and shoots back to 3 v
pin 2 = 1.5v than goes to zero and starts over at 1.5
pin 3 = 1.5v than goes to zero and starts over at 1.5
    pin 4 = 0v
pin 5 = 1.2v than down to zero and back to 1.2v
pin 6 = 1.3v than down to zero and back to 1.2v
pin 7 = .5v than down to zero and starts over
pin 8 = .5v than down to zero and starts over

behaves like a short causing it to restart over and over? Any advice? could not find a schematic...

try to find the schematics. try to find which coil has such a fluctuating voltage.

The 3 coils furthest from the bios are the only coils that exhibit this behavior.. The 3 near the RAM slots, though the voltage is small they all behave the same.. Tried to find a schematic and still looking, even if I had to pay I could not find a schematic yet, still looking.

how much voltage on the 3 coils approximately? are all the other coils with no voltage?

note: please save photos in JPEG format. so they get smaller file sizes.

The 3 have .5v than they drop to zero and repeat over and over. The other coils have constant voltage 3v,, 5 volts and .5v in and out... Just keeps repeating over and over.

now you need the schematics to trace the mainboard to discover why some coils do not have correct voltage. In addition, look at all the ICs carefully. you may discover another IC with corrosion which you did not consider before.

Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 (serial number: MP2BFZEF) bios request
              by Wahaz
              Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

Lenovo Legion T5-26AMR5 Desktop - Corrupt BIOS
              by grimacelord
              Hello there.

I am working on a Lenovo Legion T5-26AMR5 desktop that currently has a corrupt BIOS and I have been unsuccessful thus far in trying to fix it myself.

              History:

              1. This computer came to me initially with an error message that said "BiInitializeLibrary failed 0xc0000001" or "0135 fan error". It would always be one of the two errors. It should be noted that when it produced the fan error, there was no physical problem with the fans. They were all spinning just fine.

I searched for this error online and discovered...

              Lenovo IdeaPad 330 15-AST 81D6 BIOS Recovery
              by jendkkd jeje
So a couple of years ago i got a bios update through Lenovo Vantage, so i installed it and bricked my whole BIOS, so i couldn't fix it so i put that ideapad in a box, 3 years later i found that one PC and want to recover it to switch from a 2014 hp laptop to this one.

I found a method to recover the BIOS of many lenovo laptops tha consists in pluging in a USB Flash with the BIOS files and power on the laptop with Fn + R keys pressed until fans go loud and start beeping loud, but nothing worked, so i think filename is wrong, i tried naming the bios file as 07WW.BIN, BIOS.BIN, BIOS.fd,...

Lenovo Thinkpad W541 Shutdowns after bios flash (removing BAP)
              by Kei.Kurono.931
Hi. I have a Thinkpad W541 that i was trying to remove the Bios Supervisor Password using this guide. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=87588 LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal

I have the old bios backup but when i restored the original bios the laptop shutdowns after a few seconds and can“t load Windows.

              - Using a CH134a + SOIC 8 Clip + Colibri 1.0.1.61 i backed up the original bios 3 times and verified all of them were the same.

              - Used the Lenovo Bios Auto Patcher applied the patched file to the chip and verified...
