    8930g lcd bklt issue

    Hi all,
    8930G:
At power up, the lamp goes on but after few second goes off.
I have changed the inverter with no result but the strange thing is that all
signals to inverter remain stable after the lamp has gone off.
I have tried with another lamp tube with no result.

    Re: 8930g lcd bklt issue

If the PWM, BL-ON and voltage supply and etc. signals remain stable. The Inverter was substituted by a known good on with correct ratings and the lamp was also replaced. Then look for signs of arcing to ground/chassis any associated connections that may be shorting and causing the shutdown. It is highly unlikely that the main parts and signals are good and yet there is shutdown. Some insulation material has broken down over time somewhere near the HV section.

Since you say u changed inverter then problem is with the CCFL lamps. Disassemble the LCD and take out the CCFL's and see which one gone bad.

With another LCD and new inverter the situation remain the same, the bklt goes on, appears the acer logo and immediatly goes off, but the system don't shutdown.
someone has a full datasheet of MSC1697 (lx1697 should be the same) to check if the signal are correct.

          Re: 8930g lcd bklt issue

Reading on other forums, and as mentioned in an answer, the guilty one is probably one of the two lamps. (probably with another lcd the lx1697 goes in protection because the lamps are not the same size ?)
The lx1697 receives the correct signals but goes into protection. There is a way to disable protection, but in the absence of the schema I do not know how to do it. This link show a possible solution but I don't understand dutch

            Re: 8930g lcd bklt issue

Finally I solved this issue by welding two capacitors on the inverter outputs. This repair is empirical and I do not know if it is permanent.

u changed one lamp or both ? because if one lamp is bad, inverter can go in protecion and shut down. test with 2 good lamp, or better 1 of lcd and another lamp and swap to see if it stay on. no matter lamp size.

                Hi jasko_jacker

I have an 8920g that was almost destroyed and I changed with patience GPU chip (reball), NEC Tokin, GPU pipe strangled by another thecnician and 19v DC intake cable welding

But I did not knew the backlight problem of these units and is the only thing that remains unresolved

Like more people I discovered that pressing Fn + F6 several times the backlight keeps on when CCFL reaches working temp. Also discovered that using a 120 watt DC adapter the problem reduces a lot even desapearing when bright is at minimum and computer is cold

I bought a new inverter TBD489nr with a weak hope and it wont resolved at all the problem as I feared but I dont want replace the CCFL lamps

I am very interested in your solution of capacitors on inverter but the inverter already has two capacitors in these places you marked with a red circle

Have you replaced the original capacitors ?
Can you tell me a little more ?

Thank for reach this point reading so bad English of mine, sorry

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
                  by rounin
                  Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

                  🛠 Original Issue
                  The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate
                  by ugamazing
I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...

Hi. Firstly I apologise if I break any forum unwritten rules, as I'm new here. I've used badcaps for advice in the past, but I've only just joined. I'm self taught, so I don't have anywhere near the knowledge that some of you guys have, but I can only hope to keep learning and get there one day.
Anyway, I've been working on a TV recently. It's the one listed in the title. Logik L40DIGB20. It powers on fine, with the standby light turning blue as it should. The backlight turns on for a second, then goes off. Using a flashlight, I can see an image on the screen. The power supply is fine,...

                  Hello guys!
I have a strange issue with my laptop keyboard and I'm lost trying to detect what's wrong - the KB9028Q-C or the keyboard itself.
It powers on OK and has no other issues except the following:
                  • CAPS LOCK does not work at all
                  • Fn button toggles Flight Mode
                  • When I press 't' or '5', it produces 't5', and when I press 'y' or '6', it produces 'y6'
                  • (with SHIFT pressed: 't%' and 'y^' respectively)
I initially thought it was a keyboard malfunction (internal short, etc.),
but when I press and hold...

Alienware 15 R2 Service Tag: DL7NN32 ISSUE (Battery is not charging)
                  by Simone Vergani
                  Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Alienware 15 R2 (Service Tag: DL7NN32). The laptop works perfectly when connected to the AC adapter — it powers on and functions normally. However, the battery does not charge. If I disconnect the DC adapter, the laptop shuts down immediately, as the battery is at 0%. I have replaced the battery with a new compatible one, but the issue persists. I also replaced the AC adapter with a compatible one, but the battery still doesn't charge.

To assist with troubleshooting, I'm attaching two power circuit schematics:
