    Dell N010 Power IC Problem

    Hey,

Hoping for some knowledge share on a little problem i have.

Trying to repair a No Power Dell N5010 down at board level and ive come accross an issue i havent seen before.

I have +PWR_SRC from the adapter and to all the places it should be but i have no 3.3v, 5v or 15v coming out of the RT8205B power IC.

The question i have is, does that mean that it is the IC that is caput or can there be any other influences to stop it regulating the voltages down? Its not getting hot or anything and i cant see any obvious shorts.

    Any help would be appreciated

If RT8205 is getting power on pin 16, then at least VREG3 and VREG5 should be present. If not - either bad ic or overcurrent (should be hot).

If Charging Ic Isl88731 is bad, then also no 3v/5v. So check it

Re: Dell N010 Power IC Problem

            Thanks for the replies,

Ive attached the Schematic, on this mobo the I/O board which has the power connector on is seperate and i cant find the details for that on the scheme. There is one power mosfet after the DC jack which has 19.7v coming in on pins 1,2,3 & coming out of 5,6,7,8 but the gate voltage on 4 is only 3.1v ?

Ive just found that on page 46, i have 3.3v ALW coming into the FET Q4601 so it must be there somewhere.

            Thanks

              Thanks mcplslg123

Ive had a quick look at the charger circuit, i have 19.7v coming into the Mosfet PU4503 and also a gate voltage of 19.7v but nothing coming out, i presumed thought that was because it wasnt charging the battery?

                  khaahk so i can confirm that i have VREG3 & VREG5 out of the R8205. These are 3.3v_ALW_2 & 5v_ALW_2.

Just cant figure out why i havent got anything else out of the controller. Does it need a run signal from anywhere?

Check resistance on PL4601 and PL4602 relative to gnd. SMPS will shut down if overcurrent detected. It should not be low ohms. If possible change the rt8205 to be sure.

                      by masoksian
                      Hi everyone,

I am dealing with the problem of turning on and off my Dell e7470 notebook.

The battery charge light is solid white, I press the button, the power indicator and the light on the button are solid for 1-2 seconds and immediately turn off.

The system does not turn on, there is no post.

I removed the RAMs and changed them, changed the battery, RTC battery, AC adapter, removed them and waited, tried again, it does not turn on.
The problem continues in the same way.
I tried to turn on the Fn key, nothing came to the screen....

DELL IPCML-CT rev a00 pOWER ON PROBLEM
                      by Cicciotest
                      Hi everyone,
I have a problem with this dell mini desktop, no LED lights up and there is no response from the front power button. It literally feels defunct, with no feedback whatsoever.

                      IPCML-CT motherboard rev.A00
                      CPU: Intel Celeron G5900T

I tested the power supply (19.5v correctly) but to be careful I also used an alternative power supply to test, nothing. No LEDs, no power on.

I tested the power button pins and they correctly measure 3.3V, so when I press the button or put a bridge with a wire, the pulse seems to be there correctly.

hey guys, hoping for some pointers to repair an eBay bought "faulty" laptop.

Ill try and give as much info as I can.

                      Dell Inspiron 17 (7786) Laptop
                      Service Tag: 5J0NHT2
                      Bios: 1.9.0

When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
                      Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has...

Problem with LG Plasma 60PM6700 - Random power downs
                      by theone111
I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
                      1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
                      2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
                      3. Problem: TV shuts down

                      by Duranitron
When I reflash again the bios of hoaca388 the unit powers on and the unit lives!!! Hooray!! All voltage in the coil 3.3v, 5v and 6.7v indicate charging are all present. including the cpu voltage , EEPROM and GPU voltage the unit is now alive, normal screen booting to windows and log in screen until I power it off. Then the unit never goes on even when pressing the power button in the keyboard.. Voltage reading 19v main , 3.3v VCC in IT8225E-128 and EEPROM VCC 0 volt and the charging voltage 0 volt.

Try to trace the power switch button goin to the power switch IC PU8803 (APL3533AQBI-TRG)...
