    Asus X502C Weird Issue

    Hi Guys,

Long time reader and now a first time poster as I was hoping you may be able to help me out.

I was given this laptop and told that the screen was displaying incorrectly. When powering up the laptop it was showing a green snowing affect at the Bios screen and then displaying a purple screen at the desktop.

    Pictures attached

I initially suspected the screen was at fault, so this was replaced but I was still getting the same issue. So then I sourced a replacement LVDS cable but unfortunately the issue still remained. Just as a side note, I plugged in an external monitor via the HDMI port which displayed correctly and I did not see the original issue.

Does anyone have a schematic for this machine or any suggestions of what I could try next?

    Many thanks

    Mark.

      Hi Diesalweasel

That's my problem, I have not had much luck in being able to source any schematics/diagrams for this model.

I was hoping that somebody on this forum may have this or have maybe worked on these boards before.

Would it be easier for me to maybe post up a picture of the board in question?

      Mark.

ASUS Zephyrus GA401I Severe Lag, Suspect Motherboard/Power Issue - Need Help Diagnosing
        by MakNCheese
        Hi everyone,

I'm having a serious issue with my ASUS Zephyrus GA401I (4 years old, worked perfectly until recently). The system is lagging heavily, even in the BIOS, and is charging extremely slowly (a few percent in hours), making it nearly unusable. I suspect a motherboard or power delivery issue.

        Symptoms:
        • Severe lag across the system, including BIOS navigation.
        • Slow boot times and unresponsive performance in Windows.
        • Battery charges very slowly (e.g., ~5% in 2–3 hours).
        • No error messages or BSODs, just extreme sluggishness.

        What I've Tried:
        • Replaced

Dell G3 17 3779 Weird power cycling and shutdown/restart issue
        by SuperJames
This one's a weird one, and still unsolved despite it having gone back to Dell once.

        Specs

i7-8750H, GTX 1060 Max Q, 500GB SSD & Seagate 7mm 1TB HDD. 17.3 IPS screen. This has the fingerprint reader in the power button.

        Backstory

I bought this from eBay, from a wallpapering shop. £650 in 2020 which was a good price considering it's a gaming laptop. Physically it's in perfect shape, apart from the hinge mounts on the palmrest failing in the time I've had it (I have a new palmrest for it). The usual thin plastic crap modern build quality!...

820-02020 Super Weird Issue: Keyboard Input Character Map "Wrong"?
        by ugamazing
So, I have a really bizarre issue that I'm struggling to identify the cause of. Working on an 820-02020 board with some bizarre keyboard/input-source character mapping. My suspicion is a possible damaged SPI ROM (U1970), perhaps, but I'm really not sure in this case:

        1. The issue is pretty weird, but when installing MacOS, I noticed my WiFi password did not work. I quickly realized the special characters (!@#$%^& etc) were not mapping correctly.

        2. I noticed the keyboard layout/input-source is defaulting to JAPANESE every single time I restore the board. I am not...
