Which microscope is best for smd rework

Which from these 2 is best for smd rework, with plenty of space for the hot air station.

    Amscope SE402Y :
    http://www.ebay.fr/itm/400429192250?...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Or the Amscope SW-3B24 (will add a 0.5X Barlow lens later) :

If you have a sugestion for another (same price), feel free to post.
    Thanks guys

The second one will give you more room to work under the scope due to the boom.
I don't have an amscope but I pull mine over the workbench sometimes and then I can look vertically at boards and check the bga under chips.

Re: Which microscope is best for smd rework

Personally I use an old but very professional Wild M3Z with 1X lens and 10X ocular (only because is a present, it's a very expensive equipment) .
AmScope Sw-3B24 has Both Ocular-Tubes with Adjustable Diopter I don't read if SE402Y has it, this type of adjustment is very important.
probably you have to make changes if you use it with laptop's motherboards, because you need a plan where to put the card and center the area without difficult.
Another aspect is the central lens, I can solder with hot air under it (my lens is made with glass) but if it's made in plastic you can damage it, you can modify it with a sheet of glass.
the camera should be positioned inside the lens and not outside so the image is better.
A magnification of 10x and 1x is enough unless you do not rebuild a damaged pad on a cell phone card or something like this

Just depends on the volume of work and your workshop you have to see your bank balance.

I don't know the names of the lenses but my bottom one is 1x or 2x and the eyepieces are 5x. I do have some 10x for really checking things close but rarely use them. I mainly view at 5x.
The LED ring light I bought from ebay which was where the scope came after lots of watching and waiting.

dellxps15 - I would say any scope is better than no scope. Sure there is a bit of dust in mine and it doesn't really have decent height adjustment but would I pay a few hundred £ or $ for a new pro scope ? No, not needed.

It depends on how much and how it is used.
If it is only used to check the status of a component, an economic stereoscope is useful but for example I use it for many hours a day, to connect the probes of a logic analyzer, to restore the interrupted tracks or damaged pads, etc. In this case it is better not to strain your eyes and work comfortably with a holder for boards.
Perhaps it is better to buy an item used but professional

The SW-3B24 real price is near 500$, check it, and this is the cheapest package with a SW-3B24

Agreed, i already have a usb microscope, a good one.
The question about the barlow, is that the package is for 20X and 40X, and this is to much, no ?
                    If i add a 0.5 barlow, it will be 10X and 20X right ?

Good day and a belated happy New Year folks !
Wow....feels like forever since I've had a chat with all the wonderful folks we got here - guess you could say I grew up and can look after myself now
In all seriousness, I'm in need of some assistance choosing a microscope. I decided it's time I finally got one and I might as well put some of the money I earned caroling this year to good use

The reason I'm turning to our community for advice is because I'd like to hear some thoughts from people who actually own a microscope already or at least worked with them hands-on,...

                      INSKAM Microscope USB port issue
                      by lcdcaps1
                      Hi
                      All
Does anyone have a INSKAM 7 inch LCD digital microscope
I have a weird issue on the one I have where the USB port does not output enough power because when I connect a USB light or the ring light the light output is always really dim
The ring light when connected to the microscope USB port is at the lowest brightness and turning the brightness knob makes no difference
I have tried different cables and different USB power adapters

I have confirmed there is nothing wrong with the ring light and the other USB light by plugging them into another...

Weak Vision due to Eye Strain when using Microscope
                      by caspian
                      Dear Forum Members,

Microscope is required for micro-soldering and for measuring tiny components on a mainboard. I have to use microscope because my eyes are not that strong to see tiny IC pins.
My microscope has light to improve vision. I have attached a photo of my microscope.

Looking through a microscope gives us eye strain. After using microscope for 5 to 10 minues, my eyes get a bit weak in recognizing close objects. that means close objects look a bit blur. Then, I have to wait for 5 to 10 hours til my eyes get back to normal.

                      1. Do you experience...

                      opinion on my new AmScope, 10 x 20 x
                      by dellxps15
so finally i decided to order a microscope for some rework . i was planning to get the most expensive and most used 3.5 90x boom stand for about 500-600€, but as i work at home, if i have to move it for some space it is heavy, so after some search i opted for the cheaper and less heavy amscope 10x that i got from amazon for 226€ ship included. after it arrived i put it on the table and that's my first opinion:

the are u can look at is very small about 1.5cm x 1.5 cm area. when i was planning to get a microscope i imaged to use it for every smd soldering and rework procedure...
