HP Quanta U99 Board - 15F Series Laptop - Dead

    Looking for a little input.

Customer brought in this laptop, mentioned in the title, doa. Found the power input jack damaged and sent 19V down the AD_ID line. Get's no light when plugged in with a good jack. Found R336 100OHM was toast. Replaced it and C605. R329 and R328 are good. And +3VPCU is present. Still no light.

I have a feeling IT8528E EXA is now toast. But I don't have one handy to swap out. Is EXS a suitable replacement?? Saw one on eBay.

Is there anything else I should look for ... since 19V went down the wrong line. Aside from a possibly bad ITE chip.

    Chuck

EC/KBC (the ITE chip) definitely got fried. I think EXA/EXS does not matter, i have performed this kind of replacement a couple times just matching the model number without paying any attention to the 3 letters at the end and it worked fine.

If you replace the ITE chip it should work.

well before removing it , try is simple functions , chek if SIO voltages are present , also chek S3 voltages , chek the starting voltage sequences as well .

Just posting back my result. Not knowing if the other versions of the ITE chip might work, I went ahead and ordered identical ones from Hong Kong, couldn't find them elsewhere. Got several so I won't have to wait again. Anyway... got them in yesterday. Put the new one on this morning ... and bingo.

Moral of the story, don't send 19v down your AD_ID line.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
          • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
          • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Hi, I disassemble my laptop to replace the speakers, to access them, you have to remove everything including the heat sink and fan, unscrew the motherboard, lift it up a bit to access the speaker wire.
that was not the first time I dissasemble it, i did replace the same speaker a few year ago and I repaste it last year, so I had nothing to worry about. but when I put everything back together, its completely dead.

After a bit of investigating, i found one pin of the status led ribbon cable that was unglued from the cable and bend touching another pin, I bend it back at his place...

Nikon D5 – dead, power board issue ?
          by corrize
Hello, the DSLR has heavyly fallen. It is dead : no sign of life and display nothing.

When it worked, it always displayed a card present state on LCD display, even when the battery is empty it display a empty battery symbol.
I found a dead fuse, I replaced it and a mosfet burnt, I changed it and another fuse burned. Nothing burned after. And I can't find any short circuit anywhere, it's weird.

Now, I try to understand how it works.

There is two boards (the little one on pictures has no component) : the first is a « power board » : managing...
