Dead 5742

Hi everyone I've been fixing computers for years but I have started to try my hand at laptop repair I have a acer aspire 5742 and it is dead there is no lights on it when plugged in I have tryed taking out the battery and also doing the static discharge but nothing. I tested where the DC plug connects into the motherboard and its getting 19 volts I don't know what to test next

You can start with flash the bios.

5742 suffer for bad kbc ec bios. try flash it.

u need usb programmer, desolder , save file (always a good thing), program it and solder it back.

I am fully satisfied with EZP 2010 but there is a lot of options, just find the best solution for you.

I'll have a look at investing in one of them and giving it a go just get nothing no lights or out at the moment

Do you think this is the most likely cause of it not showing any signs of power then

Yes, this is the first thing I would try and will fix more then 80% issues like this for 5742.

You right, flash the bios can do miracle
