Asus GL551JM power short after water damage

    Hi guys,

Need your help with this laptop. It got water damage. Even after cleaning it's quite noticeable on the photo.
I noticed the charger would turn on protection as soon as I plugged it in, so I injected power and right away noticed that the BQ735 from TI heats up pretty fast. Probably needs replacement. But I'd like to try using flux and reflow water damaged components before anything else..

My question is, considering this is a fairly recent laptop and I don't to further damage the board, what hot air temp do you recommend? I usually use 350ºC but I'm afraid it might be too hot..

    Thanks.

I have my hot air on 380°C, the temperature on the display does not really matter as its how close you have the nozzle that matters.
Lead free melts at about 220°C.

        What's a PQ?
Don't buy those $10 PSU "specials". They fail, and they have taken whole computers with them.

My computer doubles as a space heater.

          Hey guys,
Thanks for the tips, I already ruled out the 735, but even after removing it problem's still there, but now I have other components heating up, highlighted in photo..

I'm pretty sure this some component that goes into short as soon as power is injected, however there's not short without power.. I'm lost!

Any tips on where to go next?

          Thanks.

Will it help if I send a mobo photo and highlight where the water residues were?

            Thanks again.

Can anyone get me schematics and board view for this board?

water damage to the left speaker channel circuit caused an internal board short that has been carved out and damage to various capacitors. I removed both chips ur630 and ur600 both were burnt. Im not sure how to track down this partial short. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Stagg sms12p audio amp has water damage
                by edugimeno
Hi! My friend just brought this audio amplifier/speaker fro his music band saying they realized its got no sound. Led powers up but there no sound at all
I opened it and found 3 board. 2 of them are for input plugs and potentiometers, and the other larger board has the amplifiers for 2 large speakers that it drives
There's also a large toroid transformer that feeds a lower voltage to the first 2 boards and a larger voltaje (36x2 rectified close to 100v) to the power board. The power board has the plugs for both speakers
There is only one signal wire connecting the first boards...

Asus ZenBook 13 UX333F External Short - Fast Battery Drain - Need Help
                by jkucukov
I'm trying to see if someone could help me with my Asus Zenbook 13 UX 333F with given symptoms that I've experience during a recent external short.

During last laptop charge, as I was moving the DC power supply, I caused the two leads (+ -) to touch. After that event the laptop stopped charging and pulling amps form the power supply. The only way the laptop will come on is with the power supply connected and the battery having some charge to it, battery drains immediately after short operation (it gets to Windows log in screen before it shuts off). The laptop would power on, show...
