    Asus x202e won't POST

    So, here is the story.
I've bought an used x202e on eBay *in perfect condition, not a scratch on it*.
It came upgraded to Windows 10, but since I wanted to do a clean slate I've cleaned all the partitions and formatted the hard drive. I've also upgraded BIOS from 206 to 210.
So far so good. Then, I've installed Ubuntu on it, but I thought that it would be a good idea to install Windows 10 again and run it as dual boot.
Windows 10 rewrote the GRUB so I had to fix that one as well, but I've accidentally erased its boot partition and (of course) it wouldn't boot.
So I decided to do it again but this time, to do it properly, I wanted to install Windows first and than Ubuntu later.
Again, I've deleted all the partitions, formatted the HDD and started Windows 10 installation from a pen drive. It went well up to a point, but then it got stuck on "Wait a moment" (or something) screen, and after some time I did a hard reset. After the restart, the installation continued but got stuck again. I did a hard reset once again, but this time laptop wouldn't POST anymore.
What I get right now is: power led is on, Wi-fi led flashes for a second, HDD starts spinning and then it all stops. The screen is black and I can't enter BIOS or anything.
I've checked the HDD - works fine, attached an external monitor to see if I'll get something that way - nothing. Tried to boot without HDD - same thing. Tried to boot with a pen drive - no luck.
The rest of the components are soldered on the motherboard so I can't check if it's memory, processor or BIOS.
I think that without the memory it should still be able to enter BIOS so it could be either processor or BIOS. Processors almost never dies on the default settings so corrupt BIOS seems most likely (or so I wish to think since it can be replaced. The laptop run on battery the whole time so there is no chance that there was a power surge or something that could fry the components.
I've tried unplugging the battery, holding power button for 60 seconds, clearing the CMOS, no results.
I've run out of ideas what to do so any suggestion is welcome.

One more thing. I've noticed that plugin the computer on AC results in the same behavior as pressing the power button - computer turns on, fails to boot and remains on. There is also no way to shut it down while it's on AC - I have to do a hard reset and the computer will restart and star everything all over again. Maybe there's a hint.

    Thank you in advance!

The only way I could do it is with the programmator (which I don't have) since I can't find a way to get anything on the screen/get into BIOS.
I can buy a chip online (it's W25Q64) but I need to buy it from someone who can flash it for me.

That's the other bad thing, since my friend from the US bought this for me in November and didn't bother to even open the box. I've picked it up from him when I was in the US recently, but any time for complaint is long gone. I'm stuck with what I have.

                Re: Asus x202e won't POST

Good news! I've managed to fix the laptop. It was a bios problem. Bought programmer on eBay for 7 euros, unsoldered the chip, programmed it, soldered it back on and all in tip top shape now .
Just one more thing, I've only found a programmable bios for x202e ver. 2 motherboard (goes into x201e laptops), which should be identical but I can't get my Ethernet to work. If someone has a bios dump from x202e, I would like to try programing with that one. Cheers!

I didn't want to bother with removing the chip again so I've used FPT to do the flashing. Everything looks the same, so I'm not sure if all parts were flashed or just the firmware part. Can you tell me if this BIOS is modified in any way, since I don't see a secure boot option?

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...

With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...

                        Hi there,

I know there is somebody who can tell me what is happening with my laptop. For start, it is an asus vivobook s510ua with an asustek x510ua motherboard with an intel i5 7200u cpu and 16gb ram.. i have a screenshot from speccy before strange things started.. as you can see the laptop type and bios version x510ua.302.I don’t manually update the bios because i don’t like to having a bricked bios, i know what troubles that gives..

I did a fresh win 11 install, and after the automatic updates, windows rebooted and automatically started asus ez flash.....

                        by oragano
hey all, i did a silly thing and flashed bios to perfectly working board. None of the asus official download bios would work with ez flash. They all gave error saying not supported bios file. I tried using uefi tool to extract it to a bin file but then ez flash wouldnt even recognise it.
So, i used freedos and afudos with the aforementioned bin file i extracted and forced the issue. After bios reprogram, reboot and it was dead. Fans spinning but no post.
i have a bios writer and none of the .cap files from the official site work either. I just get one spin, then off, then all fans...
