I've done dozens of DV5 and DV6 and only 2 had bad GPUs. It was the northbridge almost every time. Sometimes it requires replacement as it either does not hold up or refuses to display video even after reballing.

IGP reballing is a waste of time .. entirely major part of they problems are situated on the internal bumpers , so there is no need of adding new balls under the chip ... the problem is internal so each time you heat it up , it works due the the internal part start making contact after heat cycle .
best way is to replace a problematic chip ... happy costumer , and good word for your lab !
