that ati GPU is MOST common problem on this laptop. give 120c heat to it to see what ic have bad balls

NOT GPU but the NB. GPUs Ati on these models have minor problems against that damned NBs.

that gpu 3470 is most failure gpu from ati. it is even very bad for reballing, because of its sensitive for heat.

that notebook would fail. just wait :-)

I've done dozens of DV5 and DV6 and only 2 had bad GPUs. It was the northbridge almost every time. Sometimes it requires replacement as it either does not hold up or refuses to display video even after reballing.

IGP reballing is a waste of time .. entirely major part of they problems are situated on the internal bumpers , so there is no need of adding new balls under the chip ... the problem is internal so each time you heat it up , it works due the the internal part start making contact after heat cycle .
best way is to replace a problematic chip ... happy costumer , and good word for your lab !

The Unique: same experience, just 1 bad GPU HD34xx, but loads NBs

highpulse: IGP after reballing on DV5 works more than year usually, so it is not a waste of time, if customer don't want to pay double price
