Laptop charger

Hi, I replaced the big cap, (120uF, 400V) on an ASUS 90W charger (model: adp-90cd DB), (Datasheet: ) and still did not work, I got 0V at the output and the led does not bright.

I used the polimeter and looked for fuses. As the datasheet shows, there is one called F2, but I did not find it on the circuit. I found instead the F1 component shown at the picture. I made some tests and the caps CX1 and CX2 have 0V when the charger is switched.

My question is, would be that F2 component at the pic, the F1 fuse in the datasheet that is causing the failure? I apologize for this question but I don't know what is the F2 component at the pic..

Before replacing any components on a laptop power adapter that outputs 0 Volts, first check if the power cord (+) and (-) leads are shorted. This is a very common problem. Pictures of the laptop power adapter would also be helpful.

Hi, thank you for your answer. I have tested the power cord and the leads are not shorted. I finally found out that the F1 is a fuse that is open.

Another question is I don't have a 120uF 420V cap to replace it (the original has a 14ohm ESR so i need to replace it), I have a recicled 100uF 420V instead.., do you think it will do the job or should I wait until monday to go to the store?

100uF will be fine. But if the fuse has blown chances are the primary MOSFET and the controller have also died.
