Asus PC EEE 1005HAB - Charging Circuit Help

I know this little thing is quite old now, but I have an old friend that wanted to get it working again. It will not charge a battery. Works fine but not on battery. It says charging and the battery light flashes red on and off.

I have replaced the power supply and battery. I even updated the bios just to see if there was anything that could be done. Didn't help.

I found this site and popped open the netbook. I have pulled the motherboard out and tested the battery leads. Lead 7 says 3 volts. I'm wondering if the charging chip or one of the mosfets is shot and not letting the battery charge. From what I gather the 3 volts is constant. The chip needs to signal the battery to start charging. I have a set of schematics, but I have no idea what values I should see coming out of the charging chip. Anyone familiar with this netbook or with a MB39A132 chip able to offer help.

    Thanks ,

    Jerry

If that is a old laptop like you say, there is a big chance that one of the mosfet s not doing his work, if you post the schematic here, maybe we can take a closer look at.

          Hello,

My board does not look like that one. I did test each mosfet I could find. I found one that was shorted only when I reverse the test leads. None of the other ones did that. I have circle the one that did it. Is this the culprit?

          Thanks,
