    Is it the Northbridge?

I have a Toshiba L500D LA-4971P that was dead except for the power and charge lights. After a bios re-program and a northbridge reflow it will now post. However, it gives a "System Configuration Data Read error" and then wants you to press F1/F2 etc. Changes to BIOS make no difference and the error stays. It won't boot a HDD and gives a "no operating system error". Funny thing is a windows CD sees the drive but the install fails. Several HDD's have been tried. It also won't post if the top Ram slot is occupied.

Would you say this is a northbridge error, particularly as the reflow managed to get it this far and the dead ram slot is a northbridge symptom too, isn't it?.

      Re: Is it the Northbridge?

yes , there is problem on south bridge , northbridge as nothing to do with the config data error , this is from IO reading , so give a light reflow on SB , if erro stop , reball or replace

very common on L500 with grafic module

        Re: Is it the Northbridge?

so for upper ram slot (version dd3 or ddr2 ) , if ddr3 , replace cpu , if ddr2 , probably bad contact on bad northbridge ,

            Acer nitro 5 an517-52 reflow/rebal CPU
            by Olvin1
            Hello everyone,

I’m kindly asking for help and advice regarding a reflow procedure for my laptop — Acer Nitro 5 AN517-52, which is equipped with an Intel Core i7-10750H processor.

I own an ACHI IR 6500 infrared rework station and would greatly appreciate:

            • A detailed temperature profile for reflowing this specific CPU
            • Step-by-step guidance for a safe and effective reflow process
            • Tips on what to watch out for during the procedure

If the reflow doesn’t resolve the issue, I’m also considering BGA reballing of...

            Reflow equipment

            Hello all,

I am experimenting a bit with reflowing larger components - ideally I'd like to reflow a PS4 APU or a GPU for example.

I know it's impossible to reflow such large components with just hot air so I bought a pre-heating plate, T-8280 classic Chinese machine, which seems to be working fine besides it's a little slow, which shouldn't be a big deal.

Now, my hot air station is a Aoyue 852A++ and I feel it's a bit weak when used with larger nozzle. I tried reflowing a laptop chipset using one of those large, rectangular, nozzles and I failed miserably,...

Concerns before attempting a Reflow of Laptop's GPU
            by Mr_Nada
I saw some posts at one point talking about doing a reflow but I couldn't find them again so I thought that I would post this here.

I plan on reflowing the GPU of this old HP DV2500 laptop but I want to go over what I have and the steps I have to take to guarantee it will come out fine.

I have a Yihua 8786D 2in1 Rework station, flux (just some paste that I got from an old Radioshack kit), a couple rolls of Kapton tape and a $15 Thermometer +probe (a TM902C from EMR shielding Solutions if its important).
            • The paper that came with the thermometer states that the probe

            Asrock 970 PRO3 - missing 1.1V on NorthBridge
            by kotel studios
            Hi,

Recently I got this Asrock 970 PRO3 board from scrap. It had a few missing caps under the NB which I've replaced. Sadly, one of them went short (NC597 from boardview file). I did replace it and there doesn't seem to be any shorts left, but the board is not executing POST nor beep codes. I once got it to POST after I was slightly bending it, but that was only once. I tried to redo the same steps but to no avail. All caps on the backside of NB have 22-ish ohms.

I have traced the problem to an dead Northbridge VRM. There's no voltage on Phase (pin 8), FB (pin 6), UGATE...

Google Pixel 5 - Proximity Sensor Issues - Reflow/Replacement procedure tipps wanted
            by groomit
            Hi,
I just replaced the battery on a Google Pixel 5.
After that the proximity sensor isn't functioning properly any more. It is constantly activated. So when playing a voice message on Whatsapp, the Screen instantly turns off.
Checking with a sensor app I can verify weird behavior of the sensor. It is triggered when nothing is near and sometimes works correctly when squeezing the phone next to the sensor hole.
The rubber seal is on again (as mentioned in various suggestions in other forums).

This smells like a cold or broken solder joint. So I'd like to reflow...
