And this is why we don't let ChatGPT help with board level fault tracing

Folks, pay attention here. ChatGPT is reported to be "PhD-level or beyond in every single subject" - except board repair it seems. Have a look and prepare to cringe....

And the second last sentence is wrong, in that case you have a high side MOSFET shorted in the CPU VRM, not the "DC-IN MOSFET stage you were about to bypass" Sorin style that would "absolutely blow the CPU VR stage", since the VRM input is supposed to handle 19V...
CPU most likely was already blown by the shorted high side MOSFET anyway

We humans still have to repair machines for now, we would be "cooked" if machines start to repair themselves
And Google doesn't even know how to convert hexadecimal to decimal nowadays (or simple math), it will give you a wrong answer at first, ask it "b1000 hex to dec"...

Google used to have a unit converter/calculator that actually worked before

      Panasonic SA-MAX770PU SMPSU board fault....
      by Rictech
      Hello everyone. 😀

As per thread title, this unit has a serious SMPSU fault. It blows F1001, which is a 10A M205 in the phase from the mains input.
Very first thing I tried, was simply replacing the fuse, but the replacement ceramic fuse blew immediately.

Looking at the schematic for this PSU, I then removed what I thought was the next likely candidate: D1001 - the HV main bridge rectifier.
This isolated the fault(no longer blows the main fuse), but does not point me to the actual fault.
There are no devices that have exploded or otherwise show signs...

Tower T548006 battery, fault on BMS board
      by spleenharvester
I have two of these spotwash machines. They are portable systems that use a 12V power tool battery consisting of three 18650 cells. One of the batteries recently failed. 12V appears at the terminals but there appears to be a fault condition - machine flashes LEDs when you attempt to power up. When you plug in the battery directly (the machine charges through a USB-C port, but there is a second USB-C port on the battery itself for some reason that can also be used for charging), the green LED lights and a dim red LED lights next to it solid. By comparison, a working battery will flash green only....

      2007 Macbook logic board fault
      by tony359
      Good day all,

I got a 2007 MacBook from a friend. The fan was not working so it was overheating.
Once the fan was swapped, I installed an OS and it worked fine.

The board had quite a few corroded spots so I removed it, touched those spots with a soldering iron, washed the board in PCB cleaning fluid (I've done that many times), rinsed it with distilled water, dried it etc.

Unfortunately it doesn't work anymore. It does turn on, fan spins, power LED turns on. But no picture.

If I see that right, I have missed VCORE on L7100 (page 59)....

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

      Assuming...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
      by Hakuu
      Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

      More Details

      TV Model - LG OLED77G1PUA

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...
