    A2279 - 820-02841 cycling

    A2279 (14" M2 Pro | 820-02841)
No power - switches to 20V for a swift moment then starts cycling/switching on all USB-C ports.

Board is clean.. I looked over it three times and found little corroded caps for a display data lines.. replaced them and they have nothing to do with the issue.

Customer is using a branded USB-C to MagSafe cable. I looked for shorts (diode mode) nearly all lines, PPBUS, 3v8_AON, 5V_S2, 1v2_S2, 1v2_AWAKE, 1v8_AON.. and coils around master PMIC and slave PMIC; all reads normal.
I suspected that ISL might be bad, took an educated guess and replaced it; same issue.
Diode readings around all CDs read OK..
On thermal camera I see a small warmth pulse from the CD, U9400, U9500 and the M2 SoC itself while cycling..
I feel like it's a small corroded somewhere but I cannot seem to find it.. any tips?

It refused to enter DFU because it was cycling.. I forced DFU on board and revived the device and now it's on.. how? and why? God knows but now it need thorough testing.. thank you so much mon2 will keep you posted

What is the voltage to ground @ F5200?

Remove all power. Measure the resistance across C5220 = checking the input current full path resistance.

F5200 every 5 seconds goes between 6v to 12.29 cycling.

C5220 (measuring resistance with each lead on each side of cap) = 3.8 ohms

Hello everybody, I could use some help on this one... It's got me guessing...
I took pictures of all the boards and the pin out of the connector on the power supply that goes to the main board... I measured all the pins in relation to chassis ground, here are the result.

              (B13v)1. 12.7 volts cycling (Vamp) 2. 12.7 volts cycling
              (B13v)3. 12.7 volts cycling (PWM5) 4. 1.0 volts cycling
              (OD_LE)5. 2.8 volts cycling (PWM4) 6. 0.9 volts cycling
              (OD_ON)7. 2.8 volts cycling (PWM3) 8. 0.9 volts cycling
              9. ground (PWM2) 10. 0.9 volts cycling...

              Hi all

There's two other threads about this monitor with seemingly the same problem. The problem was resolved in one case by replacing the entire PSU board and in the second one by replacing an unknown IC.

              https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=40512

The first one has pictures of the pcbs and I noticed that there's one IC and assorted caps not populated on mine (but the PCB itself looks identical) so I thought that'd warrant a new thread.

It's my dad's old monitor. He...

MacBook Pro 13inch 2017mid (A1706 820-00923-A) - liquid damage - USBC and Display short circuit
              by rilley
              Hello everyone,
I am new into this, sorry to post it here. I want to make this as a pet hobby project, as this mac is not urgent.

              I have (Macbook Pro 13inch 2017mid) A1706 820-00923-A

My mac had liquid damage a long time ago, the connector from J8500 is damaged on pin 46 (PP5V_S0_ALSCAM_F), I guess the LCD/display panel is in short circuit, as I saw the connector from the LCD burned as well.

And the resistor L4004 is literally burned.

From what I see from the schematics, it does not affect any other rails, only the connection to the display...

              usbc connector replacement on mobile
              by drscoot
I replaced the broken usbc connector on this Ciontek CS50 mobile device. It worked fine afterwards, although it looks like the battery went down quickly and the device got warm at the back (battery section). After putting it in standby for a while it didn't came back anymore?
The battery is still charging (red led), but no power on.
I had another look at the usbc connector, it looks like one of the components is melted down (blue marking)? I have a picture of an untouched device and then the repaired device with 2 pictures; what are these components with B1 and PB marking? Are these...

MacBook A2141 one USB port dead and one power cycling
              by dbuergi
              Hi all,

I got a 16inch MacBook Pro showing 5v and 0,3a on the left ports and right side has one power cycling and one showing nothing. The one cycling shows 30c under thermal camera. Surrounding components show no corrosion or any shorts.
Any ideas what to check next? The whole board looks clean compared to the other A2141s i saw....
