A2141 minor liquid damage, U3100 TOP port dead. Periodically boots to 20V ~1A on other USBC ports

Just wondering if anybody has seen this issue. I'm assuming that all of the CD3217's are semi functional for the chips to request 20V from the PSU.

This unit had some soda spattered up into the side vent. I ultrasonic cleaned the board, now getting this weird sometimes requesting 20V behavior, then it goes back to 5.2V ~ 25mA The U3200 jack cycles.
I'm hoping this is just an issue with some components between the TOP Jack and U3100 and not U3100 itself.

Not seeing anything unusual on thermals just some of the power supply inductors getting warm when it's requesting 20V, only minor corrosion was observed around U3100 and U3200, minor darkening around the fuses near U3100/3200, neither are open.

I've gotten a little further on this machine.
I discovered that the diode drop for PP5V_S4_X_USBC is around .498V instead of .188V.
That would leave me to believe that several of the pins on U3100 may be open or internally something may be open on that chip?

After re-flowing around the U3100 and the area the soda had corroded I was seeing that the diode drop changed to around .336V.
I got the laptop to boot on the U3100 USBC port and got to the log in screen and thought great and left it to charge overnight.

The next day I came in to look at it and it was no longer booting, it was stuck at 5.22V 0A on all inputs. If I held down power I'd get a brief 20V then back to 5.2V
Connecting to the DFU port while running apple configurator instead of seeing the box which says "DFU" in large letters it says "RECOVERY" and Apple Controller underneath.

Running Revive gets it to start powering up and showing the Apple logo with progress bar, then it goes blank and goes back to 5.22V

I'm assuming that I still have an issue with a CD3217 since that appears to be the only place that would provide the diode drop?

XW3501 I assume is just the path for voltage sensing at U3500?

My next step will be to attempt to remove reball and reflow U3100 unless someone else has any suggestions or insights into this issue.
I don't have a donor board atm so I don't really have another option.

      A2141 820-01700 Water Damage L8504 Damaged, U3100/U3200 power cycles UB300/UB400 5V .25A
      by abajor
Like title says A2141 came in with Water Damage, customer desperately wants the data.

The actual water ingress doesn't appear too bad it sat for a day but was very dusty internally. I have no idea why L8504 was arced there is no apparent moisture there or around the LVDS cable; however, the LVDS to screen screw studs had popped off at some point and somebody tried securing it with kapton tape.

I had to create a micron wire pad jumper to reconnect the south side of the L8504 since the primary pad was blasted down to the vias.

That said after cleaning up the...

      MBP 13inch 2018 No Power - 820-00850-07 motherboard faulty (U3100 get's hot)
      by francescoranchi
Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum but I hope I can find help and also help others at the same time!

I have a MacBook Pro 13inch from 2018 and it doesn't turn on anymore it's completely gone. I was using it connected to a USB-C / HDMI adapter to connect it to the tv when it just turned off and it's not powering on anymore.

I don't have an AMP meter so I can't see how many amps are getting pulled. The only symptom is the U3100 getting very hot, upon closer inspection it looks like it burned because there's a small hole on the top surface of the IC (I've already seen...

MacBook Pro 13inch 2017mid (A1706 820-00923-A) - liquid damage - USBC and Display short circuit
      by rilley
      Hello everyone,
I am new into this, sorry to post it here. I want to make this as a pet hobby project, as this mac is not urgent.

      I have (Macbook Pro 13inch 2017mid) A1706 820-00923-A

My mac had liquid damage a long time ago, the connector from J8500 is damaged on pin 46 (PP5V_S0_ALSCAM_F), I guess the LCD/display panel is in short circuit, as I saw the connector from the LCD burned as well.

And the resistor L4004 is literally burned.

From what I see from the schematics, it does not affect any other rails, only the connection to the display...

      usbc connector replacement on mobile
      by drscoot
I replaced the broken usbc connector on this Ciontek CS50 mobile device. It worked fine afterwards, although it looks like the battery went down quickly and the device got warm at the back (battery section). After putting it in standby for a while it didn't came back anymore?
The battery is still charging (red led), but no power on.
I had another look at the usbc connector, it looks like one of the components is melted down (blue marking)? I have a picture of an untouched device and then the repaired device with 2 pictures; what are these components with B1 and PB marking? Are these...

      A2141 issues after display replacement
      by macabook
      Hi everyone,
I have replaced a broken display on A2141 with a good one, taken from similar model, now the image and backlight works fine. But the camera, the true tone and keyboard backlight is not working. I made some research on internet but I am still not sure how to fix it, according to logiwiki the A2141 display is compatible with all similar model but we need to use a1707 flex cable, so my questions are:
1-does the cable will make every thing work fine ?
2-Do we need to swap display IC chips from the old display to make everything work correctly,( I saw it on multiple video...
