defective Embedded Controller MSI GF63

Hello,

I located a defective EC (IT557VG-128)on a MS-16R81 2.0 board of a MSI Thin GF63 12U. The board doesn't have any voltages except the 19V power line.
Some Caps and resistors around the EC show less than 2 ohms. One of them is a 3V rail. When I inject 1V@1A the EC heats up.
I'm pretty sure I can't just buy and replace it since it probably needs the correct firmware on it.
Does anyone of you guys know?

i replaced 5570 and it program itself from bios. so chance is high that u dont need to program it

I will give it a try then. I removed the EC today and the shorts are gone.
What I'm concerned about is that two CPU coils show a very low resistance to gnd. I know cpu rails can be low but 0.7ohms on this isn't very much.

with never gpus and cpus u cannot use common ohmmeter because resitance under 0.5ohm is normal. u must use miliohmmeter, but dont bother with it and just replace EC

I changed the EC today. Shorts are gone in this area. Apparently it's working or at least it tried because the USB3.1 controller overheated. There was definitely no power before.
This computer got here because of an short at or close to the USB-A Port.

0.7 ohms seems too low for me for a CPU. If you suspect the fault originated from a USB A port, the first thing to check is the PCH as these ports usually connect directly to it.

Multiple dead components on a 3V rail usually means dead PCH.
