Seeking Dell G15 Motherboard ICs for Embedded LED Controller (UEL1 and UEL2)

    Hello everyone,

I'm working on a repair for my Dell G15 motherboard (model GDL5L) and need two specific ICs to restore the functionality of the Embedded LED Controller (ELC). The missing components are labeled as UEL1 and UEL2 in the schematic, and they're both critical for LED control and system signaling. Here are the details:

    1. UEL1

    • Part Number: SA0000AWJ70

    • Model: STM32F070CBT6TR_LQFP48_7X7

    • Function: This microcontroller manages system signaling, power management, and SPI communication. It's responsible for interfacing with the LED control system via multiple SPI lines and 3.3V ELC power.

    2. UEL2

    • Model: GD25Q80CSIGR_SO8-X

    • Function: This is a SPI flash memory chip likely used for storing firmware or configuration data related to the Embedded LED Controller. It's directly tied to the ELC function and connected to the UEL1 microcontroller.

The schematic shows that UEL1 handles several critical lines, including SPI MOSI, SPI CLK, and 3.3V ELC power, making it essential for the LED control system on the board. I've checked traditional suppliers, but sourcing these specific Dell components has been challenging.

If anyone has these ICs available or knows where to source them, I'd appreciate any assistance. Used or salvaged parts are welcome as long as they're functional. Feel free to reach out here or via direct message. Thank you for your help!

    Best regards,

Finding the parts is easy, any electronics distributor will have them, they are off-the-shelf parts. Finding the firmware may be more difficult, that should be requested in the BIOS request subsection https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...-requests-only .

Thanks for the response. I understand that similar ICs might be available through standard distributors, but I'm specifically looking for Dell-compatible components due to potential firmware and compatibility issues. The components I need, UEL1 (SA0000AWJ70) and UEL2 (GD25Q80CSIGR_SO8-X), are not showing up in general listings, possibly due to their OEM configuration. I am trying to see if anyone knows where I can source these. Either scrapped off a dead motherboard or elsewhere.

The STM32F070CBT6 will have an internal flash to hold its firmware. This device has some level of protection bug believe it has been compromised. With some patience and proper tools you may be able to extract the original firmware.

Yeah I know. That's why I'm looking for any leads of a Dell specific one. Mine went bad and it's impossible to find one on eBay or anything. I have a CH341A but the firmware is absolutely nowhere online.
