    clevo w370et miscellaneous capacitor.

Hi all, I hope someone can help me here as I'm about to find a corner to cry in. Basically, I purchased a laptop second hand from ebay and when it came there was a rattle inside the laptop. So I opened it up thinking I was going to find some broken plastic or a screw and instead a miscellaneous solid state surface mount capacitor fell out.
I decided to strip the laptop down to investigate where it has come from and it turns out there are a lot of places for capacitors on the board that are not being used so I am finding it near impossible to find out where this capacitor is from
Can anyone give me any tips in locating where it came from? I have one place that I think is a possible candidate (right next to the graphics card in between 2 others) but the solder there is rounded as apposed to flat where as I presumed it would have been flat where the capacitor was mounted?
I have searched for a picture online of the board and the issue is, there are a couple different types of board that have capacitors in the different locations (I presume it is to do with the region of the laptop).
The laptop does work without the capacitor but I'm not happy with using it as I'm sure it would cause other damage.
Can anyone help my strange predicament?

You need to post a good clear picture of of the capacitors and pictures of both sided of your boards . Post using manage attachments jpgs less then 3mb.
If it can not be read give all the information of the board number and mode off the board and off any bar code labels.

    Ask the seller?

yeah, I am in conversation with the seller atm and he is going to have the laptop back if I can't fix it ( I kinda wanted to fix it as I wanted the laptop). I'll try to get the pics up, I think the board is a Hannstar J MV-4 940V-0 1224.
      Thanks for the fast reply

The third pic is where I thought it could be from but there are a lot of locations to choose from
Sorry about the blurry pics btw, my camera on my phone isn't that great, I can try and take some pics with better focus if these ones are useless to you.
Here is a pic of the capacitor:

Ok, I took a clear picture of all the places the capacitor could go:

The one above the gpu is the one I suspected (the 6th picture along) but the solder isn't flat there.

Did you discount PC161 - its right at the edge where it might get knocked and it looks
a bit rough like it has been soldered?
It will be a while before the US members get to look at it so someone may have this board. It is also often quiet on here at weekends

In pic 3 looks like dust on the board and that extends over where a cap would have been so perhaps not there?

does the capacitor have to be the exact one as I need to purchase a new one?

                Re: clevo w370et miscellaneous capacitor.

Well it needs to be 560UF 2.5volts surface mount though you could use a through hole one
if you cant find a surface mount

Do you have another number near the memory slots like DAOZR7MB8F0 REV-F

                  Re: clevo w370et miscellaneous capacitor.

I can't see another number there no, just the Hannstar one. I don't think the capacitor has been knocked either I think it has gotten to hot and movement in the laptop has worked it loose although I'm not 100% sure.
The other issue I have is that if I do find where it's from then I'm going to have to find someone to do the solder as I don't have the equipment or experience.
Thanks for your help so far though, I really appreciate it
So you think as long as the cap is 560uf and 2.5v it should be fine?

thank you so much for finding that for me I really appreciate it (I really am very much a novice when it comes to these things)
Now back to finding out where it came from *rolls eyes*
Is there equipment that can be used to find where it came from or is going to be a visual thing?

                        Re: clevo w370et miscellaneous capacitor.

                        No there is no machine.
You could try emailing clevo - long shot.
As your board is working you could test the voltages on the pads that would
mean you could disregard any over 2.5v
We can continue tying to find a picture or a schematic for the board.
If you can find anyone selling one on ebay you can try asking them - may or may not want to tell you

Have you googled the numbers on the Ram I cant read them may be just the ram part number?
Take the ram out any label underneath - there is usually another number than the board number. Is that a label on the back of the board on the back of the ram section?
No comment yet from any of the laptop gurus spread around the world if nothing comes up today post something in the thread as late today as possible.

Thanks again for your help mate

                          I've just found this:
                          http://www.nhl.pl/lofiversion/index.php/t63766.html

If you scroll down to the the picture where the heat sink cover is open you can see there are 3 capacitors above the gpu (with the same volt caps) and only 2 on mine. When I inspect the area on my board the gloss of the board is dull there and looks like theirs been some heat discoloring.
If I use a volt meter there would should I be looking for?

btw my capacitor is 6mm base diameter.

                            WoW!! great find.

Check your base size again - I believe they are usually standard the one I
suggested looks to be 8mm across the base

                            EDIT EDIT

                            OK found this one 2R5SVPC560M

its available from a few places - initially found it on ebay but we dont usually recommend ebay
as there are a lot of fake caps about

I have the new capacitor (I ordered the one you linked me to) and I am taking the board to a guy I found who will do the soldering while I watch and isn't charging me a lot (he seems like a real nice guy).
I'd like to thank you again selldoor, as without you I would still be getting frustrated with this laptop.
                                  Thank you so much
