Razer blade 2022, 14" PI480 wont boot to OS, freezes

    Razer blade 2022, 14" PI480, Ryzen 6900HX, 16gb ram

I picked up a Razer blade 14" (2022) from a friend who said it "overheated" and he replaced one of the fans. He gave up on it as windows wouldn't work/re-install. He gave it to me, and i've been working on getting linux on it. Installing Mint i was able to get about 1/4 through the installer before it froze. Now i can't even get the installer to boot. I am met with a kernel panic.... sometimes. Sometimes it just hangs on the boot sequence.

I've run memtest quite a few times, and more often then not i will get a PASS. Sometimes it will fail right away, and other time it will be 19 hours with no fails.

Since memory is soldered on, i can't really pull modules. I have tried pulling the NVME and wifi/bt card. This doesnt seem to change anything. Cold or warmed up, doesnt change anything.

I also did a full teardown, and didnt see anything burned, or bad traces, etc.

I just finished a 26 hour memetest, and its still as a "PASS"

Would love any ideas or input moving forward.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

You have your response, memory is most probably the culprit.
If you don't know how to replace onboard ram, take your laptop to a competent Repair shop.
If you have stuff and skill it's not a Big deal to replace it.

    good luck!

Lol, i mean, fair enough. Granted this memory is soldered to the mainboard. As good as i am with soldering, i dont feel proficient enough to do BGA re-balling on memory modules.

Sounds like i have one of two choices

      -scrap/sell
      -pay to have repaired.
