Got a 2021 14" MacBook Pro M1 here that died suddenly. No signs of liquid damage. However there was a strong burned smell. Upon removing and flipping the board I found a burned cap C9400 near PMIC U9300. Photos attached. Should I just proceed with replacing U9300 and some of the surrounding caps? Also, I don't have any donor boards from this generation of MacBooks, maybe could locate a compatible cap from an older touchbar model?

On the bottom side plate there should be an A**** laser marking. What is this number?
On your board, you should have a 820-**** number on the PCB (usually in copper covered in black solder mask) - if available, what are these details? Each will help to determine the exact board you have.
Also, unable to view the posted photos in the first post.

Those CAPS are power caps, I would replace all the suspected CAPS that are blown. Test each cap that doesn't look blown, remove the blown cap and test for short to ground, see if the Line is still shorted after you remove the bad cap. If it is still shorted trace back to that long on the schematic and find what areas are connected. I suspect this would be an easy fix.sigpic
