Lenovo Ideapad S145-15IWL Model 81MV Water damage.

    Hello.

First, I would like to extend my wishes for a Happy New Year to everyone.

... so I got this notebook for repair. The ntb is not turning on. A small amount of water was spilled on the keyboard and I found only 2 dried spots, patches on the motherboard. One around Mosfet PQ5302 but is not damaged and the second on JEDP1 connector.

    I measured:

    Mosfets:
    PQ5301 PIN:4 25,35V
    PQ5908 PIN:5 GT_PH shorted to the ground
PQ5902 PINs 1-4 shorted to the ground

    Coils:
    PL5901 shorted to the ground
    PL5902 shorted to the ground

    Part:
    U3301 - PIN5 +3VS is 3,305V
    PU3601 - PIN24 +5VALW is 5,09V

When I put in the power supply only the motherboard (without RAM ,keyboard, ...etc) takes immediately 0,46A and it goes up to cca 0,73A (maybe more) and like the Ampere the PCH heat makes the same, after a few seconds the coils PL5901 and
PL5902 are getting hot too. I am afraid that the PCH has gone to the other world. Would like to get some instructions how to check it deeper. Thanks in advance!

The PCH is getting hot, so I started to looking after the voltages what are going to this chip. Part RPC807 have no short, the PINs 3 and 4 should have 3V but they have 3,3V. RPC810 no short 3,3V. Part UC1302 PIN 1-2-6-7=1,05V ALW, PIN 4=5V ALW, PINs 13-14 +VCCIO are shorted when power supply is off, when on there is 1,05V, PIN 5 VCCST_EN 3,2V. PIN 3 VCCIO_EN 3,3V. PU3601 PIN17 VCC should be 1,35V but is 4,85V.

I lifted one side of the Coils PL5901, PL5902, PL5904 and the shorts disappeared from mosfets, only Mosfet PQ5902 was shorted Source to Gate. I removed it and tested, PMOS test in Diode mode shows 0,5+V, Resistance check 10+Mohm, continuity test ok too ... so next I removed PU5801 from the other side of the board, after that the short was not there anymore ... but after the coils the short remains, at least I know that the mosfets are good.

...On the VGA side I lifted coils PL801 and PL802, the mosfet PQ802 pin5 is shorted to the ground and the mosfet PQ801 is connected to this via pins 1,2,3 they are shorted too. Coil PL802 to the way to mosfets is not shorted, but way to VGA is shorted. Coil PL801 is shorted both ways. In the near is chip PU801 and it looks that is damaged too.

Totally wrong direction and approach. the way you're proceeding, mb may get killed.(eg as per post#2,you think VCC should be 1.35V whereas its correct at 5V)

Measure resistance to GND and voltage on all coils.

Resistance should be measured without power.

What you deem as short on coil may not be short at all as there are rails which will show very low resistance to GND and thats fine.

20 year old Kenmore refrigerator ice maker bad water valve coil took a crap
          by sam_sam_sam
I got lucky that when I got home and was about to get some ice out of the ice dispenser I hear and see water running down the outside of the ice dispenser what the heck is going on here

At first I thought that the ice dispenser mold was cracked so I brought a new ice maker because this one has been in there for about 10 years now

Well I put the new one in and wait and I wait for the water valve to open and let water in no such luck well there is a way to check the function of the motor and the water valve on this ice maker just need a jumper wire “L” to...

          Acer Alienware Nitro 5 (GH51G LA-L181P Rev: 1C) & Dell Alienware M15 (GDP50 LA-k452P Rev:1) - Both Shorted PCH (SRKMA)!
          by reessi
          Hello:

I have both these laptops that appeared to have the same fault so I thought I would have a go at replacing the PCH as something to learn, they both are using the same PCH.

          I started on the ACER:

Up on connecting power no signs of life but current is consumed from the bench power supply and the PCH is hot.
All the caps on the top of the PCH are showing 0 ohms and the 3.3v rail is shorted.

I followed the videos from Sorin, Electronics Repair School on Youtube heating from the bottom to install. I practised on around 10 scrap...

          Panasonic TC-P50S1 shorted TXNSC1EDUU (TNPA4782AB) SC Board
          by Yanleb
Hi every one. I just want to share the successful repair of my shorted Panasonic TNPA4782AB SC board.

I don't usually do it but so many parts were shorted that I decided to buy the ShopJimmy repair kit instead of sourcing each components individually. Here is the list of components the kit contained, with a remark indicating if I needed that part or not :

          D608, good
          D618 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
          D619 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
          D865 RF101L4S, shorted (See warning 1 below)

          HP Victus 15-FA1025NL , board DAG3PAMB8D0 REV:D, shorted CPU DrMOS and n-mos
          by modtool
          Hi to all,
the owner of this machine gave it to me after having opened it to take off the dust from the inside, telling me that after that it didn't start anymore.
I found that one of the DrMOS (AOZ5016QI) on the CPUCORE was shorted between VIN and VSWH, and that one of the two n-mos connected to the power jack was shorted aswell.
I unsoldered the two shorted components and verified that there were no other short circuits, then decided to power the mainboard, firstly with the lab power supply, then with its original HP 200w charger, but the behaviour is the same, the board starts...

Dead Razer Blade 14 2022, shorted CPU?
          by BalkanBoy
          Hi,

          today I got Razer Blade 14, Ryzen 9 6900HX and RTX 3070Ti.

Laptop was completely dead. I found shorted CPU VRM mosfet, shorted 19V mosfet and blown battery fuse.

I replaced it all, but still on CPU coil where mosfet was shorted I got very low resistance, near 0 ohms. On other CPU coils I got around 3 ohms.

Laptop now raises voltage on whole board, but still nothing comes on the screen. CPU gets 0.7V on all coils except the shorted one. CPU gets only slightly hot, below 40 C.

I removed coil and injected 0.7V, it draw around...
