    Strange Dell D630 battery issue

Bought 2 replacement Dell D620 / D630 batterys from eBay recently.

They're aftermarket and didn't fit in the slot properly, but did go in with a bit of prying.

One went in and all seemed fine, but I came to the machine after leaving it overnight and it was displaying 5 orange flashes and 1 green indicating battery failiure. This was about to be sold so I popped in the second battery I received and sent it off - it hasn't come back to me as faulty yet.

I got the seller to send me a replacement for the first one, it arrived yesterday, and sure enough after a few hours of charging it flashes up with 5 orange flashes. The indicator light on both batteries is dead.

What do you think caused this?

I'd agree with that - bugger though as the genuine ones are way too dear for a refurbishment of this price tier. Anyone have a used battery that holds an hour charge in the UK knocking about?

Yes, the generic batteries suck. Anker batteries seem to be okay, but I don't know how long they will last compared to the original battery from the laptop manufacturer. I don't know if you can get those, but they are the only replacement battery brand I've seen that claims to use good quality cells.

I know. So we take our chances and keep our fingers crossed. An alternative is rebuilding the batteries from new cells.

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Hello, I have issue with Dell Inspiron 3542.

                Motherboard marking:
                Code:
                Cedar_Intel-MB 13269-1
                PWB FX3MC REV: A00
The laptop works just fine (on battery and power supply) and doesn't cause any problems, except those described below:
                1. The first problem is that the RTC/CMOS battery self-discharges after about 2-3 weeks after installing a new battery. I have been installing different batteries (GP, Duracell, Energizer) and the problem still exist.
                1. The second problem is the LAN network card (Realtek RTL8106E), which is not detected at all in Windows. The BIOS is

Dell G3 15 3500 - Battery bug (black screen and flashing keyboard backlight)
                by HTR-Informatique
                Hello,

YouTube video of the problem encountered: https://youtube.com/shorts/q7TLNv36LUo

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.

On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.

I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.

I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

I also had corrosion/oxidation on the...

ASUS X571 no power : battery issue?
                by mkdj
                Hello everyone,

                Mark and model: ASUS X571
Symptoms: not turning on. There is only the LED battery indicator working. The owner of the laptop told me this problem arrived one week after having changed the battery. He then managed to power on the laptop only once, and then it never powered on again.

                Tests already made:
                - Battery is charging when laptop is plugged in. The LED battery indicator turns white after a couple of hours of charge, indicating that battery is fully charged. However, laptop won't turn on anyway, with or without AC plug.
                - I have removed...

Lenovo P43s won't boot with internal battery connected – looking for help diagnosing battery issue
                by code share
                Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with my Lenovo ThinkPad P43s. The laptop does not power on when the internal battery is connected, but it works fine on AC power alone (battery disconnected). Once the battery is reconnected, the system becomes completely unresponsive — no lights, no fan spin, nothing.

Here's what I've tried so far:
                • Power/EC reset (held power button for 60 seconds with battery and AC disconnected)
                • Booted successfully on AC power only with the battery disconnected
                • Visual inspection of the battery — no swelling, burn marks, or connector damage
                • Battery
