Hi, my dear friends., Maybe this might be a stupid question or something I missed or do not know. I have 2 MacBook Air A2681 (Indentical color & EMC #), both LCD screens broken. Before ordering the LCD Screens I confirmed both worked with their respective batteries & AC Adapters, & they did 100%. The LCD Screens came in today & I replaced LCD for the 1st A2681. (Removed Battery Terminal cable for both Laptops before installation of LCDs). Perfect Screen & Booted up fine. But it did not work with battery. I checked the battery connector & it was seated in well/perfectly. Kept it aside in the same condition & started to replace LCD on the other A2681, & before replacement, I made sure it was working fine with battery. After the LCD replacement, Screen was perfect & booted up well. & in this laptop too same condition, did not work or charge the battery. I see the battery logo on the Top right with charging sign. Are these intelligent batteries, that once logged in with the passowrd, then laptop senses the battery present & starts to charge?? 'cause right now date/time not correct till logged it or connected to WiFi. I have asked for the PW though. Has someone come across this kind of issue, why does it happen? when both battery & charger are 100% good. Kindly inform me if someone knows & share it with others, or someone might have come acroos this same condition after replacing the LCD Screen??? Thanks

Could be the lid sensor. Have the lid sensors been calibrated ?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=u18D_NPGhzQ -
mon2., I just screwed the Lid Sensor like it was before. Can this Lid sensor cause the laptop battery not to charge or work even though the battery is pysically connected??? It was 100% working before, for no reason now it stop to charge or operate with the battery, & with AC power works fine. Help please, I have 2 laptops just stuck for this reason.Comment

@mon2., lid sensor does not play a vital role in the battery charging. Confirmed it with a good working A2681 laptop. The lid sensor is only for display shutdown when LCD lid is closed down, unless untill there is a liquid spill on the sensor. I physically removed the Lid Sensor connector from the working one. The laptop turned on fine with battery, it started to charge well & laptop worked well with the terminal connected. Right now I am short listing all the possibilities & will surely inform your guys where the problem is. As of now I feel there is a conflict of Data lines between the battery rails & the Newly (Purchased) made Replacement LCD Rails. Now yet confirmed, might confirm it today.Comment

Good morning friends
I have the same problem with an A2681, I replaced the screen and with the cable it works perfectly but it does not charge the battery, it indicates 1% the battery is not charging
Could you solve it?Comment

@Libera y repara ... Dear ONE MORE CASE., Buddy till this day & time I could NOT solve the problem. I will send this same message to the seller in China. BY THE WAY can you inform me the seller's name & location, I will build up a complete case. I know 100% my 2 (TWO) laptops were working with battery & they were charging too.., best part is that, the laptop was on was shown to me with broken screen on battery power (100% working). Let me build up a case. Kindly give me most of the information. ThanksComment

I put in the ORIGINAL Screen again., but still the same problem., 'cause the replacement screen might have damaged the DATA lines of the battery charging Rails. These were customer units so I could not go too deep into troubleshooting, but I will surely look into the schematics when I have the time & see what are these interrupts got to do with LCD Screen & Battery DATA Rails. Why this happened, I have no idea, but now my TWO buddies are operating their laptops without batteries.... HOW SAD!!! Can someone else even look into this issue & inform us a solution if possible?? Thanks buddiesComment

Good afternoon Mferna14, I also tried to reinstall the original screen without success, the battery did not charge either.
I have been carrying out tests and if I enter system information, with the battery connected I get the battery serial number, the health (100%) and all the battery information, if I access information without having the battery connected, no It gives me no information, with which I understand that the battery is being detected and it must be some software problem, but I have not been able to find the solution.
I wanted to try with another battery, but I don't have another one, maybe I'll buy it to carry out the test and I'll tell you.
I will also check under the screen hinges in case there are any flexes (in addition to the aperture sensor flex) to see if those hinges on the new screen have damaged anything, although I seem to remember that there was nothing.Comment

I don't have a diagram to see where to measure those points, can you provide it?
I measured the battery and I have 4 points and they are 3 different voltages.
3.9 7.8 and 12vComment

mon2., thanks dear for the info. Please Explain in words. So that I can build up a case & send this whole info to the seller who are selling these types of LCD screens where they are damaging teh laptop's good 100% working battery charge/working rails.Comment

Now this is an interesting case. Just had a local client come in with a broken A2681 unit that was dropped. About to source a replacement screen (Seven Puppy is whom we prefer). Concerned about the multiple cases posted in this thread. May I ask from where the replacement display assemblies were sourced? Will ping Seven Puppy to confirm the expected end result before proceeding.
Wish to note that many macbooks will NOT offer a proper battery gauge unless you are logged in. You will see the charge symbol but not the battery gauge to note how much percentage has been charged or discharged. Concerned about post #8 which confirms that the SMBUS interface is working.
I will do some digging before jump into this firepit of a repair.
PS: Midnight is the new dark black look of these units? Can hardly read the markings on the backside.Comment

Ok.. Contact Julia (Seven Puppy) & inform her about me & this case, she knows all. She send me a photo of a A2681 Laptop to check all the battery connection, which did not make any sense to me as I know we have done 1000s of MacBook & take all precautions to check (ZERO) NO POWER present on the logic board. I told her since she has a physcal A2681 Laptop, just put in the screen which she is selling & she will know about the issue. Till this day & time, she did not do it, but keeps giving me the round abouts... Kindly help in this issue & I will really dig deep so that vendors who sold these screens to Seven Puppy & other sellers on AE should be accountable to all this & find a solution to repair our Logic boards. Just image TWO clients of mine operating their laptop without battery charge???

Hi. Just chatted with Seven Puppy (China - guessing Shenzhen). They said they have never seen this fault. On their website they have a whatsapp number - could you please use this same number to chat with their (male) tech whose face is in the link upon connection. He is quite knowledgeable and informed us that we will lose true tone because the camera assembly has been changed. No issue with lid sensor.
When you enter the battery screen details - the battery serial #; charge cycles are all present? Just reports that there is no charging? Very nervous about proceeding with this repair. The client killed the screen with a drop of the unit. I will also alert their overseas tech to review this thread now.Comment

I just chatted with ther factory in Shenzhen. They claim they have not seen this fault. Is your contact in the USA? I will request they review this thread. I am being censored again other details of my post. The bot is working overtime (again). Curious to know if the battery stats are being reported ok like the # of charge cycles, current used for charging, etc. Post a screen of your non-working battery system. Really curious on this case and certainly do not wish to face this issue if it can be avoided.Comment

Just alerted the same tech in Shenzhen to review this thread. So far, he has not read the sms. If the battery specs can be extracted then the SMBUS interface is working ok. Baffled as to what is going on. Truetone feature will be lost as the camera has been changed. Wondering if there is a link here. Does the camera work ok in your display assembly?Comment

by reformattJust had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".
It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...07-31-2025, 08:37 PM -

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.
On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.
I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.
I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

by MagJ_Hello Everybody,
I have a cracked screen and want to fix it. Usually, TrueTone will be gone as long as one does not prune open the screen and exchange only the LCD. However, I have seen the following Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBNqhp6p_ZM, Solve MacBook M1 Pro screen true tone issue from the channel Master Liu, where only two chips called "display control chip" and "code chip" are swapped over to the new screen. I know, it is for the MacBookPro version. Though, I had the hope that it could work similarly for the MacBook Air as well.

by dhenionI'm working on my sister's laptop: Asus VivoBook F510UA-AH51 - The motherboard died so I replaced it.
The original board was:
ASUS X510UNR REV 3.0 A
The replacement board is:
ASUS X510UNR REV 3.0 B (identical except B vs A - I couldn't find an A board anywhere. Visually they are identical.)
It boots right up on the replaced motherboard and everything works fine on the new motherboard - but it won't run off battery. When I disconnect the charger it immediately dies. When I plug it back in and reboot the system - it still shows the battery at...1 Photo - Loading...
