Hi friends, I have a Lenovo E14 Gen 2 Type 20TA laptop with serial number MJ-0GWZSZ TYPE 20TA-002CUS. Intel Core ™ i5-1135G7. It has Winbond 25R256JVEQ BIOS which has black epoxy resin. I have 2 questions. What method do you use to remove the epoxy? and the second, what chip do you use to program it if you have the TL866 II Plus programmer? Thanks in advance.

I believe you may be referencing the wrong flash onboard. Hunt around for another similar flash device. This pic is of a Winbond W25R256 which is a secure flash device with a replay protection counter feature. Do not believe that you will be able to properly program this device. Wait on others to comment but there should be another standard flash bios onboard.
For the epoxy, low heat (100-150C) should allow this compound to become brittle and flake off with tweezers. -
This is the worst part of Lenovo. They put this black glue on almost every chip nowadays.Earlier it was only under BGA chips but now even core ic has it.
This epoxy wont melt at temps suggested by mon2. You can use a glue cutter knife very carefully to remove the glue to some extent and then flux and hot air gun to lift it.
Be careful not to cut the trace on PCB.
I managed to remove a thinkengine chip in this way without damaging the PCB pads.Comment

according to the schematics the W25R256JV is the only SPI flash on the board.
This black glue is called underfill. If you search for "underfill tools" you will get some tools that might help a little bit.Comment

I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.
I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6... -

Long story short:
- dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
- gave the computer to his son a couple years later
- son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
- too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)
He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8... -

I recently bought a Dell G15 5515 with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and 3060 RTX. The BIOS chip on it was dead, and my hardware guy replaced the chip. After that, everything was working fine.
The BIOS is currently at version 1.22.1, and I wanted to update it. I downloaded the latest BIOS version from Dell Support using my ST: FQZMYJ3, but when I tried to run it, it says "unsupported system." I asked my tech guy what he did, and he said he took the chip from another board and flashed it onto mine.
