    Macbook Pro A1502 820-4924-A - No Power/Charging Light

    So Ive got a Macbook Pro here with no power or charging light.

    I have taken the board out and did an inspection and found a small bit of water damage on C1267 (PP1V05_S0). Cap fell off as I cleaned the area but I dont think this is responsible for my no power or light issue, and should probably work just fine without it.

    So after watching a few Louis Rossman videos and some post here with similar issues, Ive done a lot of testing and have found the following values of the main lines I think are important:

    PPDCIN_G3H = 16.63V
    PP18V5_DCIN_FUSE = 16.63V (Charger on this model is 16.5V and confirmed from the bottom shell of the Macbook that it is indeed rated for 16.5v)
    PPVIN_G3H_P3V42G3H = 16.23V
    PP18V5_DCIN_CONN_R = 16.5V
    PPBUS_G3H = 12.28V
    PPDCIN_G3H_ISOL = 16.63V
    PP3V42_G3H = 3.34V
    PPV42G3H_SW = 3.434V
    PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_REG = 12.28V
    PPDCIN_G3H_CHGR = 16.06V
    SMBUS_SMC_5_G3_SCL = 3.429V
    SMBUS_SMC_5_G3_SDA = 3.429V
    PPVBAT_G3H_CONN = 5V (But slowly falls to almost 0v while being probed)
    SMBUS_SMC_2_S3_SCL = 0V
    SMBUS_SMC_2_S3_SDA = 0V (Both SDA and SCL have a 0.75v drop to ground so they are not short).

    Would I be right in thinking theres an issue with the SMC itself? I recall during a Louis Rossman video where he mentioned that if PPBUS_G3H = 12.28V instead of 12.59V then the SMC isnt turning on, but Im not 100% sure.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Study U8010. This is a load switch that passes on the missing PP3V3_S3.

    Measure the voltage to ground on U8010 for:

    A2 / B2 @ C8010 pin 1.

    P3V3S3_EN @ R8112.

    If this rail is being enabled but the output is @ 0v, then U8010 is defective.

      Thank you.

      Just got back to testing now.

      Both C8010 and R8112 have 0v on them, so looks like its not being enabled?

        UPDATE :

        So after a checking around I decided to reflow the SMC as I believe it wasnt starting up. And once I redlowed and cleaned up, I plugged in the charger and viola, charging light!
        I then put it all back together and tested and it's coming, charging and working no problem!

        Thanks again for the help!
