    Macbook 820-01521 CD321500Z Question

    Macbook

If i take CD321500 from another board and swap both chips from cd521500Z to cd321500 will this work or is there another chip that needs to be swapped with the pair? I am checking now if my partner has a doner board, but i was just curious.

I know they have to be matched to work.

The suffix defines the firmware embedded inside of this power delivery controller. My suggestion is to not replace the part unless it is with the same markings.

Are you confident the PD controller is defective?

Review the LDO rails of each PD controller.

Yea, i found a short on pp3v3_upc_xb_ldo and the chip got hot in this area on injection. Original symptoms were 5v no switch to 20v, one port took 5v and .14 amps other port took 5v no amps.

Ok. Review this vendor. They only deal with resellers but offer quality parts and great service (to date):

        USB-C Port Controller IC Replacement For MacBook 12" Retina / Pro 13" / 15"W / Touch Bar (A1534 / A1989 / A1707 / A1990, Early 2015 / Late 2016 / Mid 2017 / Mid 2018 / Mid 2019) (CD3215C00 / CD3215C00ZQZ, U3100 / U3200, BGA-96 Pin) (mobilesentrix.com)

Chat with them and share your concern. Request a part with the same markings as the original.

PS: There is a wiki around that discusses the compatibility of each of these PD controllers. Will link it if I can find it.

        1pcs 100% test CD3215 CD3215C00 CD3215B01 CD3215B03 CD3215COO CD3215BO1 CD3215BO3 CD3215C00ZQZR CD3215B01ZQZR CD3215B03ZQZR - AliExpress 502
        * reballed PD controllers from working boards - it is an option (demand the same topside markings)

CD3215C00Z and CD3215C00 should be interchangeable if I remember correctly. Other revisions will generally not work (except swapping all B03 with C00). cd521500Z will for sure not work…
Note that there are loads of fake/bad CD321x on the market, always best to take them from a donor board with known history (i.e., one that switches to 20V but has dead CPU/T2/etc…).

              Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
              by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
              • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
              • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
              • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)

              A2941 Macbook air 15” - 5V 0a
              by obelix24
I’m working on one macbook air 15” m2 that was water damaged.

keyboard, lcd, microphone connectors were damaged so i’ve replaced all of them and without screen connected macbook worked fine. Keyboard &trackpad and also lid sensor was working fine.

i’ve put macbook in shelf and order new screen so i can fully repair it.

Now i got the screen and macbook stays at 5v 0a.

i’ve tried if it’s not in DFU with another macbook but it’s not detected at all.

i don’t have schematics so i don’t know where to start can someone help me?...

              MacBook Pro M1 Activate Mac
              by Kush679
Sorry,I'm using my phone right now and couldn't find any search bar to search on the topic of macbooks.
Few weeks back(mid may),I had bought a MacBook pro m1 A2338. It belonged to my friend's younger brother who was a graphic designer,he gave me this MacBook without any icloud account linked to it and I had so much work during that times that I only used it for storage while traveling for shoots (I'm a photographer). So long story short, his brother got involved in a bad accident and was in coma and then fairly recently they pulled out his life support. I mistakenly did an erase Mac and...
