I already disassembled the laptop, cleaned the fan and applied new thermal paste.

Replace RAM to see if it is the faulty RAM that causing this freeze first and easier step. Does it happens randomly or when a heavy program tries to start like a game?

I have run MEMtest86+ v.4.10 several times without any errors.

The blank screen happens while the pc is idle or light used in windows 7 SP1 installation or ubuntu running in live DVD mode...

Check out the huge thread about the NEC/TOKIN capacitor. I'm fairly sure that's exactly what you have there.

What is the voltage on all pins (40 pins) of CN5 (LVDS connector) before (screen working) and when the screen goes blank (write them)?

Noticed after I posted!! LOL! Agree with "Th3_uN1Qu3" by the way. My L300 is completely dead and have a shortage on 3.3VA rail but in your case it freezes on Windows. Must be NEC/TOKIN.

Ok, I read the entire thread (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8991) and I decided to order 330uF Tantalum caps to substitute the NEC/TOKIN OE907 (2.5V 900uF 1.5 mΩ esr).

I am newbee! My A300 shutdown in a few minutes since I start installing Windows 8 from DVD. If I put Hyren Boot DVD, my laptop boots from DVD and shutdown not happen? My HDD seems to be in good shape, normal, without problems as per HDtune! Any suggestion will be of great help!

With the Tokin cap problem it often doesn't shut down until it reaches Windows. This is because in the BIOS (and probably in the Hyren Boot DVD screen, I am not familiar with it though) the CPU frequency is limited to something very low (usually 400-800MHz). Once it reaches the Windows start screen, the CPU is stepped up to full speed and draws more and more current, which the failing capacitor cannot cope with.

Replacing the NEC Tokin cap, as per https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8991 should fix it.

I am newbee! My A300 shutdown in a few minutes since I start installing Windows 8 from DVD.

Sounds like core overheating, just like HPs. Where it shut down on me when running the Windows 7 factory recovery installer.....

Crap core cooling??

Even when it can be bad caps like early 2000s desktops.....

Thanks to everybody for the help, this laptop is now working again just by removing NEC TOKIN cap and replacing it with 4 smd 330uF capacitors.
