Macbook Pro M1 (A2338) - Not Charging but Detected and Post

A client showed up with a Macbook Pro M1 stating that the battery doesn't get charged (no increase in percentage) but still charge. She left me with the battery 25% and still draining. The Macbook is fully functional. I checked with coconut battery and system report. Battery health shows 85% and stating normal condition, no abnormalities. When it is charging, the system says it takes 10 hour to finish charging. I went ahead to charge it for a longer period, the battery just drains (doesn't get charged).

At first, I thought that this must be a battery issue. I went to replace the battery. But what do you know? It didn't work.
From a visual inspection, the type C port looks okay. System report also shows the type of charger it is plugged in (so I don't think that there's trouble conecting to the charger).

I'm at work now, so I don't have physical access to the device. After work I want to pick up ISL9240 from a store that I know. My suspect is from the ISL9240 (U5200). Any other suggestions?

The power adapter may be underrated. Be sure the power adapter is 100W or more with a power cable that is certified for 100W or more support.

Nah I don't think thats the issue here. Wouldn't regular M1 A2338 come with 60W adapter?

I've replaced the ISL9240, the machine still boots and charging, but no effects. I don't have a type-c meter, but stating from coconut battery it only gives 2-3 watts of charge.

What is the history of your unit? Any liquid spill?

Is the battery being detected by the laptop?

Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode. Measure the resistance across C5260. One meter probe on one side of this part; other meter probe on the other side. What is the resistance in ohms of this part?

No liquid damage, but kinda dirty overall. came in with a faulty psu, changed that and worked ok for a day and came back with no charging battery, but detected. can see the battery and precentage, works with a charged battery

strange issue, everything works but the battery starts chargin at first (like a minute when fully booted) and then nothing, just the connected logo. i have another same model working to make somes tests and comparission measurments. tried dfu restore just in case but same problem.

Will check that first on monday when open the shop.

This is ok. Was the lcd replaced or is the original?

There have been cases where the lcd replacement units are causing the charging function to fail.

Review this thread which may be similar to your case. Was the battery that you tested a known good battery? The battery in the video has quite a number of charge cycles on it.

yeah i tried this battery on another working machine and charges ok (charged from 0 to 100% just to be sure thats ok), also tested another OEM battery with 200 cycles and does the same.
thanks im cheking that thread right now.
