I cannot say for sure, I only know what I was told which is they removed the old ssd and inserted a new ssd. The fault then appeared.
Unfortunately I do not have the device anymore so cannot test any further. What would be interesting is to see if any contacts on the SSD socket are live with the system completely shutdown and the battery connected.
    Can anybody here test this?
If this theory is true then it would be like removing and reinserting a screen cable as nowadays they are constant live too and easily shorted upon insertion.

Infact if you have this issue then the machine will turn on and boot albeit for a short period however the SSD port could be tested for constant live?

Just checked: there appears to be no voltage on the M.2 slot when the computer is turned off and the battery is connected, even if fully charged. This matches the behavior described in the schematics.

Maybe the system was hibernated and not fully turned off when the SSD replacement was performed?

How do you find out what type of chip it is? What do I search to locate this online?

Generally speaking, you search for the marking(s) on the chip and hope a matching hit comes up.

In the case of this specific motherboard we have access to the schematics, which is considered a luxury (unfortunately, as it should be the norm).

Also Sorin from Electronics Repair School (YouTube channel) agrees that when issues arise after an SSD swap it's due to the computer not being fully turned off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUx854da9wc
