Lenovo NM-D562 no V on current sensor

    Power supply
Legion 5 pro, nm-D562 rev. 2.0, short search. Test whith power supply 20v. Fuse, first and secon mosfet (pq110-pq111) ok...mosfet pq5401 ok 20v on drain no voltage on source and gate, mosfet pq5402 no voltage at all. current sensor pr5401 R005 no volts. pl and pc around are ok. Many capacitors and pl away are shorted. How can I check if mosfet pq 5401-pq5402 are ok or not? Why resistor R005 is not after second mosfet? Grazie for help

    Hello.

    1) Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode. Measure the resistance to ground @ P3 label = main power rail to the logic board. What is the resistance in ohms? If the resistance is low = shorted part on the rail, then the DCin mosfets will remain OFF.

    2) To check the DCin mosfets @ PQ5401 / PQ5402 -> remove all power -> meter in resistance mode.

Measure the resistance to ground of:

    source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
    source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
    gate (4) & drain (5-6-7-8)

Post each measurement. Check both DCin mosfets. Checking for a low resistance = defective mosfet.

each measurement, PQ5401-2 and boths R005 always 1....may be the capacitor in picture is foulty. I removed chip IT8227...from motherboard because was damaged Click image for larger version

I injected 5v 2A after current sensor R005, standby led is on...near UU6 chip two capacitors (0.1U_6.3V_K_X5R_0201) cu 468 and 469 heat up. How can I test which one is shorted without desoldering? Grazie

Pour a few drops of IPA (alcohol) on only one of these caps. Then inject again and observe the rate of the evaporation of the IPA. Repeat with the other capacitor. If they are heating up, the IPA will evaporate much faster due to this heat. If they are both getting hot then both are defective.

Alternatively, you will need a low ESR (milli-ohm) meter test tool to check the resistance of each of these caps using only this special tool. Should be available on Amazon / Aliexpress stores.

update, i desoldered SIO. UU9 was short removed too. Again no 20v on PQ5401. mosfet 5401 AND 5402 not short found. Resistance current sensor 400ohms.
            test charger IC BQ24780S: VCC20v ACDET 2,6V REGN 5,7V BTST 5,4V NO V ON CMSRC-ACDRV

            If I inject 20v on current sensor, led is on...ok 3 and 5 v, other 1,2 v present...Around GPU many capacitor shorted 000ohms

How do you test MOSFET in laptops ?
              by Jane
I tried to use this method:

              Testing an N-channel MOSFET:

Step 1: Discharge the Gate (turn off the MOSFET)
Place the black probe (COM) on the Source (S) and the red probe on the Drain (D). The multimeter should show no continuity (high resistance or "OL" – open line).
Then, touch the black probe to the Source (S) and the red probe to the Gate (G). This discharges any stored charge in the Gate, turning the MOSFET off.

Step 2: Charge the Gate (turn on the MOSFET)
Now, place the red probe on the Gate (G) and the black probe on the

AcuRite 5 in 1 temperature sensor replacement repair
              by CapLeaker
              Got a new victim:

AcuRite 5 in 1 Iris outdoor weather station not updating the temperature / humidity anymore. The original sensor is a SHT21. Also there are identical other sensor manufacturers. I chose the HTU21D to replace the original SHT21. Both have identical specs. I've had two failure modes with these sensors.
A: outside temp stuck at -40? It's cold here at times in Canada, but not that cold!
B: stuck at some temperature and maybe updating once in 12 hrs or so.

Easy solution is to go to AcuRite website and purchase the sensor. Right?...

Is there any high current pouch battery that are size 60mmX80mm maximum thickness 21mm for a battery operated tab welder
              by sam_sam_sam
I have a battery operated tab welder and the battery does not have enough current for the battery tab welder because after about 30 welded it does not have the same current output it voltage has gone down by at least 0.500 volts or maybe a more than that

I can fit 21700 battery cells in the enclosure it is very tight fit for four of them that are 35 amp high current capacity 35X4=140 high current output this should work a lot better than what is installed right now

I tested the battery cells there are installed right now and they are testing good with no issues that I...

VGA MOSfet permanently shorted and loss of MOSfet pad
              by Nooy
Hello everyone, I recently found this badcaps site and super Learn Electronics Repair youtube channel. And I wanted to learn how to troubleshoot power supplies and VGA cards and how to practice soldering, since I already have a properly defective piece of them. I am currently trying to solve two problems:

I have a Gigabyte GV-RX460WF2OC-4GD type card. I managed to find the faulty MOSfet (AON6414A) on it, which I replaced. The card starts up, but after about half a minute, the MOSfet in the same position will be shorted again. Is it possible that the PWM controller driving the MOSfet...

Asus X712EA 3 volts after the first mosfet
              by AppleLover123
              Hey guys,

i have a asus motherboard here and as the title says after the first mosfet (in the picture) there is nothing more than 3.15v.
I injected 19v and max. 1 amp at the charging port and there is not voltage drop or smth. It's just taking 19v and 1 milliamp.
Then i tried to inject 19v and max 1amp after the current sensor and there it first takes 19v and 4 milliamps and after 2 seconds it is taking nothing (no current).
I measured on the coils on board everything seems fine. Also the main power rail is not shorted (infinite resistance).
              Now i thought something...
