HP Elitebook 850 G8 flashes capsl 7 times after bios un/resolder

Hello all,

I am trying to remove bios pw from this laptop so I desoldered, dumped and flashed and resoldered the chip on the back but ever since doing this caps lock just flashes 7 times, no fan no screen, also the charging/power light immediately comes on when connecting the battery.

What do I do?

I am about to remove the chip again and verify the flash. I'm tempted to solder the chip in afterwards on the jumper pads to see if that changes anything. Am using several layers of tinfoil heat shielding, so I'll have to remove that first :P

Would pictures (before/after/other) be helpful here?

See attached. Suggest to flux the sides of this flash device and then run your pencil soldering iron tip along these joints. The solder will then melt and rise up onto the flash device pads. We use a cone pencil tip at high heat and that works very well with Koki solder flux or similar.

Things have progressed... downhill..
fn light on, no charging light, power button unresponsive 😱
Ive measured across the board and all voltages seem to be there

By any chance you know the ratings of this resistor (and possibly circle where it should go)? Could I just bridge the two points?

If i remember correctly it was the same as the one next to it

If you dont know the rating, try with 33 ohms resistor.

Having trouble pinpointing the location on the pcb, if you could point it out on the pic(s) I included earlier I would be very grateful 🖤

I'll have to scavange something from other broken/unusable pcbs, most likely the motherboard from a dell Chromebook I got laying around lol

I've been examining the area around the bios chip but I can't find the spot or it's companion resistor anywhere 😵

I have the same issue, but I didn't touch the bios or anything. It just suddently starts flashing the CAPS lock light 7 times when trying to power up. Also the charging light is constantly on. Any idea?
