Help identifying location of knocked off component on motherboard
Supposedly arround pin 5 of the bios chip, it's not the chip with the green dot but the one oriented in portraid mode, pin 1 is the topright one. Having trouble pinpointing the location on the pcb, if you could point it out on the pic(s) I included earlier I would be very grateful 🖤
I'll have to scavange something from other broken/unusable pcbs, most likely the motherboard from a dell Chromebook I got laying around lol...

*sigh* I think i made things worse now. Now when I plug in the charger without battery the charging led stays off (?), FN light is on and power button unresponsive. What should I do?
Anybody able to take (highres) pictures of their motherboard? (mainly interested in the back-side to verify everything looks as it should)

I think I made things worse. Now the only light that is (always) on is fn and the power button doesn't do anything. Guess I'll unsolder and re-verify the chip still is okay....

I'm having same problem on an elitebook 850 G8. I'm pretty sure the solder job isn't good, I cannot seem to keep the chip in place and the pads being minimal (as opposed to the pads of the other BIOS chip) and the chip being legless aren't helping. I always seem to blow the chip off-center or the chip doesn't seem level causing some of the pads to not make contact. Any tips keeping the chip to stay on the spot it should be? superglue or heat resistant tape?...

I am having trouble soldering the chip back, it either gets blown off-position a bit by my hot air gun or it seems to not be completely level once the solder sets.
Any tips? possibly a drip of glue to keep it in place?

I am about to remove the chip again and verify the flash. I'm tempted to solder the chip in afterwards on the jumper pads to see if that changes anything. Am using several layers of tinfoil heat shielding, so I'll have to remove that first :P
Would pictures (before/after/other) be helpful here?...

HP Elitebook 850 G8 flashes capsl 7 times after bios un/resolder
Hello all,
I am trying to remove bios pw from this laptop so I desoldered, dumped and flashed and resoldered the chip on the back but ever since doing this caps lock just flashes 7 times, no fan no screen, also the charging/power light immediately comes on when connecting the battery.
What do I do?...

Flashed and assembled the laptop but sadly just caps/num blinking 7 times, what should I do? Could this mean bad connection/misaligned chip?...

it already is in an archive called dump.rar, didn´t change nothing
edit: tried a zip instead of a rar and that worked...
