Did you you find a solution?
I have the problem like you ( to find the culprit.of a short). I injected about 0.9V , upto 5A , the board takes current about 0.6A, yet, temperature of the PCB board is about 31C degrees.
I keep injecting upto 30 minutes, yet no result, regarding heating
I have Asus FA506 ( board DA0BKXMB8D0 Rev: D)Comment

Hi, to come back to this laptop. I still had this laying around and because I couldn't sleep I picked this repair up, it's been a long time, but the owner bought a new on back when it broke, and didn't expect a repair. But I could not believe the 19v rail would directly warm up the CPU with voltage injection.
So what I did was remove the bridges PJP8101 and PJP8102 to isolate the 2 sides of the board.
The short was on P_IMVP9.1_VCCCORE_VIN_S
I injected 1V 3A on that side of the board, but again only CPU/PCH warmed up slightly after 15min.
So my guess was one of the mosfets PQH8101, PQH8102, PQH8103 was shorted, because I had 0.01Ohms resistance between Source and drain.
Removed all 3 off them to find out PQH8101 was shorted.
I replaced the shorted mosfet and the short is gone.
PJP8102 was pinched by a screw, I had to cut the trace because it was shorting to ground. Therefor fixing the bridge with a blop of solder is not possible. I soldered a wire from C6902 pin 1 to PCI8102 pin 1.
The laptop now powers up and starts, but it seems to run unstable. It freezes (mouse / keyb not responding).
I was wondering if this could be the bigger caps PCE8101 and PCE8102 that got too hot when I replaced the nearby mosfets ?Comment

by ScotchmistI have an Asus GA502D, it had a blown mosfet which I replaced and the laptop booted into windows, a few mins later it shut off, the same mosfet was blown. I thought maybe just a bad mosfet but same thing happened again, a few mins in windows and shuts off.
I have removed the mosfet and can run the laptop no problem
The MOSFET is FDPC5018SG
Can anyone point me in the direction of what could be the cause of this, could it be the controller rt3663bc?

by jkyohoI recently fixed a FA506IV cam with Vram mosfet short on Vin(19v)to ground. Got both mosfet replaced and now laptop could turns on and GPU everything works but battery not charging. Battery status shows 100% on both BIOS page and Windows system.
Measured voltage got 0.3v on battery red lead not going up. charging mosfet gate low and 19v not passing through inductor.
I also tried dc bench supply 14v charge directly onto battery but seems not drawing anthing.
Any idea? -
by aaronkatriniHi all,
I have recently picked up this Dell OEM Nvidia GTX 750Ti 2GB Video card. Its an old card I know but still wanted to get it working if possible. The problem is the following:
- Put the card in my testing motherboard and start running Heaven benchmark
- Benchmarks seems to run smoothly up until half way then the motherboard completely shuts off immediately
- Try to start it again and I get a slight move from the PSU fan - a clear short
- A little troubleshooting later I find one shorted Mosfet - Replace them both - short is gone
- Put the... -
by joshAUHi all.
This notebook was showing no signs of life.
I removed the FH52M LA-J891P mainboard and found that there was 19V at the DC jack.
However there was zero volts on the two PRB2 and PRB46 resistors immediately after the two polarity protection MOSFETs (PQB11 & PQB12).
If I remove the PQW1 MOSFET, the 19V rail starts working, and I can turn on the unit - at least I get the fans, and the power light comes on, when I simulate the power button being pressed. No display.
I tried replacing the MOSFET with a new one, but again no voltage on the... -
by OOF DIO(If anyone has a functional boardview file of FX505DV/DU that would be helpful)
(Had 3 problems, now just 1)
I have no experience or knowledge and usage of tools to repair devices besides the entire past 12-10 days of researching, watching YouTube repair videos and troubleshooting this laptop motherboard. ChatGPT was used as a guide to ask questions.
I used boardviews of mostly FX505GD-M, and some FX505DU, FX505DD. Used schematics of FX505DU.
I had originally intended to replace the BQ24780s first (due to previous battery removal while benchmarking) but I... - Loading...
