HP Pavilion series G6-brief power only

Hello, I have a HP G6 that when the power button is pressed will light for about half a second and then shut down. The bench power supply also shuts off. So I think there is a short somewhere. I have tried a second motherboard and it does the same thing. The common factors are the power jack and the power button board (the power supply is fine). I supect the power button board. There is 3.3 volts at pin 5 of the flex connector on the MB. Is there a way of jump starting the board and not using the power button. Unfortunately I can't find a schematic and I'm a noob when it comes to reading them anyway. I have attached another schematic for a different G6 and the parts in question (power button and connector) look the same. The board I have is DA0R12MB6E0. Some photo's are also attached. How can I jump start the board?

Short the g1 pad to start the board. It is not likely that the problem lies there. Hp needs a smart adapter to work, how did you connect the lab supply?
The schematic can be found via google.

Thanks Khaahk. That reminds me, one of my old boss's was from Estonia lol. Anyway, The lab supply was set at 19.5 V and 3.5 amps with the appropriate connector and I set a current cut off for any short circuit detected. I have used it many times with different laptops, including HP's, without any problems. I think Dell is the only one that gave me problems with their "third wire". The LED at the adapter is lit as if there were no problems. So I don't think the problem is in the lab supply.

The only google sites that have the shematic are commercial ones. I don't want to buy it just for this one off problem. I have added many schematics to the repository here and likewise I was hoping somebody may have one to share.

I'll try your suggestion. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks for your help.

        Good one i hope

Most of older hp-s did not even start standby voltages without id pin. The new ones might be different though. Dell turns on but wont charge without id.

He was the best! A big viking sized, barrel chested, bearded man but really new his stuff and did everything with a minimum of fuss. I lived in Fiji at the time.

Anyway, one of the boards no longer has the LED at the power plug and I found a nearby mosfet PQ45 that is red hot. I'm going to change it out later today. Thanks heaps for the schematic.
