    Gateway Nv3717u not posting

I have a Gateway NV7317u that will not past post. It gives a blank screen and no external screen will work. The power light will light up and the HDD will spin up and stay spinning. But the fan will start then stop after a few seconds. The light on the power supply says a green light. I have the motherboard out and did not see any damage. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix or listing of chips on the motherboard that may go bad?

If it doesn't reach post it might be a corrupt bios.

Nothing will display on the screen and no beeps are heard as if it was getting to post. And the reflow is the first step i tried and it is still giving the same issues. Anyone know if there is a listing of the chips and the placement for this board?

maybe a bad ram stick or ram socket
try one stick at a time in both sockets

I have tried a combo of 4 different ram sticks and I have tried a reflow on the gpu. It is the same no matter what socket the ram is in

This is the motherboard in question. The part in red looks like its damaged. Not to sure if this is leading to my issues

Is there a way to try to reflash the bios with out getting anything on the screen to see if that may be it?

                        Hello,

With that ati vga chipset I would first change it and then check the bios.
                        Hope I've helped you.

So I was testing some of the led light bars, and found out the touch media bar that allows for the volume to be muted or turned up and down will still work. seems like it may be the vga chip. Anyone know of an easy way to replace the chip on a DIY level?

I have worked on that before. Reflow will not work as two pins (balls) or more are touching each other. You will need to reball those chips. Since those chips are so thin, you need the right temp to remove and replace or else you will damage the IC.

                                Good luck!

Do you know of a good way for me to fix it from home. With out having to spend a lot of sending it to have the chip reballed?

I have a Lithonia Lighting 65-Watt Gray Hardwired Compact Fluorescent

I also have back when Light of America had these light bulbs available for yard lights

The issue with Light of America was the blast boards had all most certain board failure while bulbs hardly ever fail

                                          Hello Everyone!

I have an Acer Aspire A315-42 laptop. I generally leave it on for long time by closing down its lid (so it enters the sleep mode). Recently, it rained quite heavily in out area. And the humidity and moisture seem to be high. So one late evening, after I opened the lid and turned on the laptop, it did power on as the blue light turned on but after it booted to the desktop screen, just 5-10 seconds after both the screen and blue light went out and laptop shut down (the blue power light turned orange). And after 2-4 seconds that orange light went off and the laptop died.
