Toshiba C660 IGp chip get really hot.

Hi I am working on a Toshiba C660 and the IGP chip gets really hot, the fan is running constantly. I have measured the temp at 67c dos anybody know if this is normal also I cannot find any short circuit caps around it but there are 2 caps on the igp itself reading short. I suspect the Chip may be faulty, what do you guys think ?.
The set is running normal just very hot.

I have tried that also placing copper shim aswell I think maybe the IGP chip itself is faulty.

Pretty sure if there were shorted caps it would not function at all.

Honestly, some IGPs do run that hot. Maybe a dodgy thermal sensor? I guess the only way to be sure is if someone else with a C660 with that motherboard chimed in.

I have already Updated the bios and the ec using external programmer, but maybe its normal just seems strange it would be that hot with the fan running constantly. Whats the best util for monitoring temp of Gpu? would speedfan do it ?.

Hm, how hot is the air that is coming out of the fan/heatsink thing? It could be possible that the heatpipe isn't working as well as it should be.

it losses the gas inside sometimes if there is a leak, may be need to change the heatsink.

As above. Even if it is getting too hot, I seriously doubt this is a motherboard problem. Try replacing the heatsink.

Thanks for the input folks. I didnt know heatsink had gasses inside the copper pipe.

reflow or replace the igp chip is the only solution i think.

lol no it is just hot air... sheesh there are no gases ...

What does happen though is that:

                                        A) there is not a even surface on the chip or the heatsink
                                        B) there is build up between the fan output and the copper pipe
                                        C) the solder has become faulty
                                        D) The chip has issues itself

I would check for the build up of crap I have seen this ruin more laptops than anything you will not see it until you remove the fan from the heatsink in many cases it is crazy the amount of stuff I have found on some laptops with bad motherboards it is like someone brushed their pets winter coat off while working on their laptop then what happens is instead of working like a cooler it works as a heater!

This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...
