Hi I have a odd problem that I am stumped with at the moment. I recently went to switch the main screen on a dual screen w701ds and now it will no longer stay on if the lcd cable is plugged in? It boots up just fine if the cable is unplugged. The cable itself is fine. My friend who needs his unit back asap is willing to pay for a new motherboard ;however , if the new screen somehow shorted the board I don't wont to repeat that event. When I changed the screen out the battery was not installed and there was no power to the unit. Does anyone have experience with these dual cable screens is there some simple step I am missing? Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.

Re: Lenovo w701ds won't power with lcd cable attached.
try replacing lcd panel first if LVDS cable has no short. i think that screen is shorted that is why the mobo does not start with the cable on.
one way to check if LVDS cable is short is to connect just the cable to the mobo without the screen panel. if laptop wont start, cable is shorted. if it works, lcd panel is shorted.
hope this helps -
Re: Lenovo w701ds won't power with lcd cable attached.
Thank you for your reply fddizon. That's the strange thing the laptop only posts without the cable even the new cable with no screen attached. There was no power to the board or battery installed when I switched screens. When powered with the new screen there was no odd metal contact to cause a short and no smell or spark. The old screen worked before I exchanged them. I believe the problem is with the board and I will likely order a new one but I don't wont to repeat the event that damaged the board the first time. My guess is that the new screen was the cause. How would I test just the screen?Comment

Check the pins in the LVDS socket. I've had LVDS pins bend together a few times and cause all sorts of weirdness.Dell E7450 | i5-5300U | 16GB DDR3 | 256GB SSDComment

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by olliec420Ok I screwed up big time and hoping I can fix. I will break down what happened and the images.
- Have Dell PowerEdge R730
- Bought Tesla P40
- Researched power cables and order correct one, pic had two black connectors in photos
- Power cable arrived, same connectors (EPS-12v) on both ends
Both sides are the same plug but different colors. The listing stated that colors would be random. OK I plug it in, red side to riser board, black side to GPU. - Power on.
- System immediately turns off.
- I only had 1 PSU plugged in and it was blinking orange, I thought I drew too much so I plugged in

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by Mita99Hi,
Try to repair a Thinkpad P72 EP720 NM-B723 MB with I7-8850H processor and N18E-Q1-KB-A1 (P3200) GPU with 6GB memory. Unfortunately there is noinfo what happened to the laptop. I got it disassembled with parts missing, like keyboard, battery.
Unfortunately I have no schematic available for me (requested in the sub porum) but got the boardview file.
Symptom: after connecting to the charger the power led light up for one-two second and switch off. After a couple secons the power led light up for half a second and switch off. No battery, no IO board, no... -
by Dr.dI have a lenovo ideapad 5 14itl05, board LA-K321P, That will only power up on Battery only, or with battery disconnected and power adapter only. If battery is connected and usb-c power plug connected. It only works on battery and will not charge. I can however force it to charge by connecting the battery from a disconnected state while the power USB c plug is powering the laptop.
Additionally....to add to this strange situation. The usb-c power plug ONLY works to power the laptop on one side when inserted into the boards power usb c plug. If you rotate it 180 degrees, the board gets... - Loading...
