Troubleshooting Dead Laptops With DSO Quad?

I wish to minimize my time spent to locate the cause(s) of dead motherboard providing no sign of physical damage.

Many schematics have wave pattern that shows boot-up processes etc. Oscilloscopes are expensive, huge and takes up space. Can I use the DSO Quad to make my work life easier regarding dead motherboards?

"Two 36Mhz analog channels and two digital channels"
You need at least 100mhz. But its enough for a start.

Take a look at hantek dso 2250 PC USB Digital Oscilloscope 100MHz 250MSa/s. I've been wanting to buy this. It will save some space and displays on your laptop.

However, i'd like to know the pros and cons of usb dso.

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died
          by tvguy12012012120
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

          Hello everyone,

Im by no means an expert, just an electronics student and my tablet-laptop died. I got it in Oct. 2024., and was having slight issues with the device, not being able to get display to show on iGPU from sleep, or sometimes it wouldnt show sign of life for no reason, a fix would be to plug the original charger into another dell,hp,macbook, then plug into my device, it would boot, or by multiple times holding the power button. The power peoblems stopped, but then started issues where it wouldnt show a display even after a fresh boot (ALL THIS WHILE MUX SWITCH IS ON IGPU)...

HP Pavilion 15-eh Board DAG7HAMB8F0 - CPU throttling to 0.4GHz (PROCHOT_EXT) and black screen

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Yoga3 Pro-1370 Board NM-A321 DEAD no power at all
          by k370
          Hi everyone,

I have a NM-A321 board that is dead, with no power at all.

When I received the laptop, the +5VPMIC line was shorted. Removing the PU3 (ISL95905) solved the short, so I ordered and replaced the ISL.

With the new ISL, the short is gone, but still no voltages at all. I measured the following rails:
          • +3VALW
          • +5VAUX
          • 1.2VSUS_PWRGD
          • 3VALW_PGD
          • 1.05VAUX_PWRGD

Additionally, the ISL95906 (PU3) is not getting any voltage on the VIN rail.

The only place on the board where I find any voltage is on the first MOSFETs, specifically:...
