    Re: Acer Aspire 5750-6845 dead

    Here you go.

You mentioned before that USB ports are mangled, start with +3V, it is possible that U34 (USB 3.0 controller) is defective.

Remove PU*, U*, or C* then test resistance to ground.

    +3VALW - PU8

    +3VALW_PCH - U33 (Northbridge), C352, C701, C340

    +3V_LAN - U32 (BroadCom), C323, C657, C299, C294, C684, C692, C683, C690, C680, C667
    +3VALW_EC - U20 (KB930)
    +3VS - U8, U36, U21 (+3VALW to +3VS) , C461, C458, C602

    +3V - U19 (+3VALW to +3V transfer), U34 (USB3.0)

I didn't have time to do those tests. I will come back to this laptop, when I will have more time.
I have ordered the shorted FETs and they should be here any day now.
It is safe to replace them at this stage? Or I should find first all the shorted components?

Thank you for your help, but I have just gave up and purchased another motherboard and it's working great.

            Re: Acer Aspire 5750-6845 dead

            Hi from Italy,
I'm facing my Acer 5750g's death.
He stopped turning on from one the to another.

Power supply/charger is in 100% working order and it provides 19V and when it's plugged to main 220 AC ~ its led turns on as expected. The notebook seems dead, no suonds, no leds on, no hd activity..nothing. When I connect the power charger, this seems to go on short circuit, the green led turns off and no voltage is provided anymore. Disconnected and replugged it again from 220V ~ it works again.

I opened the notebook and noticed anything strange except the PQ21, at least two pins of this IC are corrupted, maybe oxide, don't know the causes. Here's some picture, before and after a little cleaning.

Replacing the damaged one with a new IC A04466 will be enough to have the notebook working again or this can be compromised from PQ21 faults?

            Thanks a lot.

I have same motherboard with no power problem. When I check the board I saw PU2 RT8205 (3.3V/5V regulator) is heating up rapidly. I checked the complete board but didn't find any short, I will definately order one RT8205 and change it but I feel like there is something is wrong with KBC, have anyone see a problem like this before ? if you share your experiences about 3.3V/5V chips like RT8206 & RT8205 I will be very thankful !

PU2 TPS 51125 (on schematic it is RT8205) replacement fixed everything. Maybe this info helps other people
