hi guys bought the girlfriend a Advent Veroa I30IL1 , problem is the USB ports are not working. i opened the thing up and there was a ribbin coming from the motherboard to the USB ports so i ordered new usb ports and cable online, got them through. after replacement i switched laptop on and again no luck > what could be the problem guys

Post a really clear picture of the area of the motherboard where the usb connector is.Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Tried uninstalling all the controllers in device manager then rebooting to re install. Update the bios?Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

first find the schematic, then measure usb ports + - and 2 data pin (middle two pins) but i think, in your case, +5 v is missing. check schematic find +5v trace the circuit find the failure and fix it orget +5v (stable)from nearest 5v switch to usb + pin. make sure if it is always on.

dont know if this is relevant guys as ive not noticed any other problems as of yet but as i was putting the laptop back together i noticed a burn mark on the ribbon of the touchpad , looked on the motherboard where the ribbon goes to on the opposite side and this is what i seen, looks like something is burnt out even through the plastic sheet that covers the motherboard.!

Yeh - that would do it!! could be a 5v voltage regulator. can you post a close up picture of it. Can you read any numbers on it. Tak a pic and read what you can then get some Isopropyl alcohol and try and clean it to see if it reveals any more.Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair
