okay we got our first clue what the part number on the o volts something is not telling them to turn on.....making progress...

and the out put on the other seems high but lets find out why the other has nothing....thinking......


and nothing on source hhhmmmm i think we have a bad voltage regulator controller thinking....

from the dc jack to the regulator area can you see any tiny smd type fuse it will be marked f followed by numbers eg...f103 etc.... but will have f to mark it as fuse...
can be on either side of board between dc jack and the regulator area....



even though that would be too easy but never know got to keep an open mind.....


let me know if you find any fuse.....

and you did this test with the memory modules installed correct?

I don't see any fuses could they be under the heat sink?

very possible it can be one of 2 types most likely newer type then older, older type will be ceramic and newer type will almost look like a smd resistor except instead of numbers on it it will have a letter like w or s or j or h etc... the 0 mean 0 ohm resistor...you can check those as well might as well...



it most likely will look like the picture i attached however the letter it uses will vary...

ok this is important to that is not the reason for it not to tell the regulators to turn on......power on self check....


you meant no memory? memory must be installed so it will tell everything to turn on.....

I found 2 marked iro measured oo2 and r020 measured 001

If you look at post 13 there is one next to DC jack 2 more up higher on the board are they fues fuses?

I installed memory

okay good as long as the test on regulators was done with ram installed then everything should be told to turn on....


okay lets get some good clear pics with heatsink removed again i know but welcome to the club.... but some good clear focused pictures of dc jack to voltage regulator area on both sides of board and make sure nothing is blocking my view of the ic and pcb no ribbons or tape etc in my way....the pics i have i am having a hard time with it... use macro mode on camera i need to be able to see everything with minimal blur... we are getting warmer to the problem and i have a feeling i will spot it with good pictures.... maybe but we now know regulators are half dead so it not being switched on....


no angle shots must be directly above and no dark shadows and no sun spots lol sorry but i need to see....

ahh damn that looks more like it sooooooo we,re back to square one..... hook up the panel and refire just to make sure this thing is dead..... no need to reassemble whole laptop just to see if it has video for some mysterious reason.. before we go further into this....


and i am gonna wait for some good clear pictures of whole board use macros on camera and straight above shots with no angle or shadows or light blind spots clear and focused and take it in half a board if you must and both sides , pic i am working with are angle and dark and blurry.... no tape no heatsink no ribbons...we need to see lettering and pcb.. gonna hold off till i see them better pictures...
